About three things I was certain. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him, and I didn't know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

    "Better Suited for Young Readers."
    Overall

I really tried to listen to this. The reader does a good job. But I think it is just too "teenage". I don't mean that as a put down. I think I would have liked this book when I was 16 but I'm over 30 and I just couldn't get through it. I'm giving it 3 stars because I think it is a good book for young readers.

In Angel's Tip, Detective Ellie Hatcher enters the high-priced world of New York City nightlife when a pretty club goer is found brutally murdered.

    James Talkington says: "Good Listen"
"It's okay to read but don't listen to it....."
    Overall

The story is ok as entertainment, not great but a nice distraction. I won't go out of my way to track down another Ellie Hatcher novel but I will read one if nothing else is available. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read it myself. This reader mispronounces many names. Olathe Kansas, Cartier watch, and Jake Gyllenhaal aren't everyday names but they are common enough that she could have found out the correct pronunciation. The voice she uses for Ellie Hatcher's partner is especially annoying. He's a black dectective from Brooklyn New York and she makes him sound like a white cowboy from Oklahoma. I definitely won't listen to another book with Eliza Foss as the narrator.

At the height of China's Cultural Revolution, a powerful general fathered two sons. Tan was born to the general's wife and into a life of comfort and luxury. His half brother, Shento, was born to the general's mistress, who threw herself off a cliff in the mountains of Balan only moments after delivering her child.

The characters are flat and the event are predictable. The readers are ok but they can't do much with the bad material.

New York Times best-selling author Sandra Brown is back with a spine-tingling story of murder and betrayal, and a homicide detective's struggle with his own rules of conduct. When Detective Sergeant Duncan Hatcher is summoned to the home of Judge Cato Laird in the middle of the night to investigate a fatal shooting, he knows that discretion and kid-glove treatment are the key to staying in the judge's good graces and keeping his job.

Joey Rae says: "Disappointing At Best"
    "Dumb Detective"
    Overall

The main character is supposed to be a skilled veteran police detective but he is just dumb. The story would have been better if this detective had some skills. This is the first book I've read by this author and I won't go out of my way to look for others.

While in Paris on business, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon receives an urgent late-night phone call. The elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum, a baffling cipher found near the body. As Langdon and gifted French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, sort through the bizarre riddle, they are stunned to discover a trail of clues hidden in the works of Da Vinci, clues visible for all to see and yet ingeniously disguised by the painter.

    Alexandra says: "Incredibly entertaining"
    "Overrated but OK"
    Overall

Huh? That's what I kept asking myself after every scene. History and fiction are woven togeather in an intresting way but there are so many far fetched twists. The reader does well with all the accents and is easy to listen to. It reads like a college lecture in a lot of places so the unabridged version might have been a better choice.

There are only two things in life that interest Stanley: solving crossword puzzles and getting his hands on his mother-in-law's money. For 20 years, the puzzles have been his only pleasure, the money his only dream. It has never occurred to Stanley that his mother-in-law would try to outsmart him and the money would never be his. Until now. It is only now that Stanley, so clever at misleading double meanings and devious clues, decides to construct a puzzle of his own, and so give death a helping hand.

    James says: "An Unusual Murderer"
"Grabbed me from the first word."
    Overall

This grabbed my interest from the very first word. The reader is excellent especially with the mean mother-in-law. If you want the traditional wrap up for the bad guy, you may not like the ending. But like many of Ruth Rendell's books it is not the traditional wrap up.
