Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Sunny, idyllic, and picture-perfect, until a tabloid news program airs a splashy segment about the community's only unsolved murder - the grisly stabbing of teenager Tara Mitchell and the subsequent disappearance of her two best friends, now thought to be long dead. In the years since the murders, several families have moved into the mansion where the crime occurred, each claiming that the dead girls still haunt the house.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

probably not. Very slow and tedious. Too much of her thinking to herself. Boring

Would you recommend Superstition to your friends? Why or why not?

    answered already

What aspect of Joyce Bean’s performance would you have changed?

Like Joyce Bean, but thought Joe could have sounded more male

What did you like best about Secondhand Spirits? What did you like least?

Oscar is who I liked best.

Would you be willing to try another book from Juliet Blackwell? Why or why not?

I enjoyed this audio book, and have now downloaded the next one in the series

Would you listen to another book narrated by Xe Sands?

Sure, I thought she did a very fine job, and does a good job with male voices too.

Could you see Secondhand Spirits being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

no, TV makes things too cheesy

Eve Renner has struggled to remember the night she was nearly killed and her lover was tried for murder. She remembers getting the anxious call from a friend from her past: "Meet me at the cabin. I've got evidence." She remembers seeing that friend lying in a pool of blood. And she remembers a horrifying glimpse of her lover Cole Dennis's face as a gunshot plunged her into darkness. Now, her memory and emotions scarred, Eve has returned to New Orleans to forget the past. But the past will not be forgotten.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A different narrator, a less predictable story, and a LOT less boring babbling unimportant details.

Has Absolute Fear turned you off from other books in this genre?

TOTALLY finished with the Bentz and Montoya series. If cops are really this stupid, naive and gullible, I don't want to know this.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Joyce Bean?

Prefer a male narrator, as Joyce Bean just butchers male voice, and this book had too many males. Story painful

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I don't think so, probably done with Lisa Jackson

    Any additional comments?

To be fair, I did enjoy Afraid to Die: A Selena Alvarez & Reagan Pescol Novel, Book 4.

In Hot Blooded, she transports listeners into the heart of New Orleans, where a deluded murderer is on a holy quest of vengeance. Dr. Samantha Leeds hosts her own late-night radio talk-show on WSLJ. One day she receives a menacing phone call at her home, while miles away, a prostitute is strangled to death. Seemingly unrelated, nobody connects the two events until more murders occur under similar circumstances.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Might suggest they read the book, not listen.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Pretty predictable, might have cut out some of the "thoughts of Sam". They were tiresome

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Drug things out, trying too hard to be "suspenseful", terrible male voices

Was Hot Blooded worth the listening time?

actually skipped some of the middle of the book, and that helped

    What disappointed you about Broken?

Too preachy for me. Sarah is such a whiner

Has Broken turned you off from other books in this genre?

After Triptych, it's almost like someone else wrote this one. Won't be get any Karin Slaughter books.

What didn’t you like about Natalie Ross’s performance?

same ole, same ole. Triptych had Will's voice with an accent, so he seemed nothing like he was in the first book.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Anger at all the preaching.

What did you love best about Triptych?

As disturbing and dark as this was, it was hard to stop listening to it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Triptych?

Figuring out the truth of Woody

What about Michael Kramer’s performance did you like?

I thought he did an excellent job with this book

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

too many, but probably the horror for a 16 year old boy who's life was changed forever.

    Any additional comments?

This was my first listen of the Will Trent series. I'm hoping the rest of the series is a well written as this book.

    EVERYTHING!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Ice House?

the beginning, the middle and the end

My first Minette Walters and my first Simon Prebble. Also the last for Minette Walters and my last for Simon Prebble.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Elizabeth Waring and of course "The Butchers Boy", Michael Schaeffer. I love a book that makes a "Bad" guy the guy you love.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I love the scene in the church and of course the ending scenes that brought the story to an end.

    Any additional comments?

Michael Kramer does a great job as a narrator, and will now check out more Thomas Perry books, as this was my first, but NOT my last.

Would you try another book from Heather Graham and/or Luke Daniels?

Didn't think I'd do another after not finishing "The Hexed", but I did it again. Now I'm done

What was most disappointing about Heather Graham’s story?

Had it figured out about 1 hour into the book. The "ghosts" are so unbelievable, I can't imagine anyone not finding them just down right silly.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Luke Daniels?

Yes, I don't mind Luke Daniels as a narrator.

Do you think The Betrayed needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

    NO WAY.

    Any additional comments?

Have to agree with DonnaC's review about the condom always being brought up by an unprepared man, and the always "ever hopeful" woman on birth control. What about STDs? Please, if you're bringing into the storyline, then have them practice safe sex. Especially since the men are always "practiced lovers", which I'm tired of hearing also!

    Please, NO!!!

    Any additional comments?

Wish Patricia Cornwell would not leave several story lines that went on in excruciatingly painful detail just hanging without a resolution. Whats up with that?
