This is my first listen to Les Brown. It was very much what I had expected (although I thought he pushed it sometimes with his weird laugh) but I do think it was short and sweet. As a motivational speaker, Les does bring forward great thoughts for the mind and soul. Above all, listening to him is most entertaining and brings much hope in one's abilities and faith.
I'm in operations all my life and have been involved in many sectors and my turnarounds. The rationale in this book is truly level 5 in every angle and corner. This book is more than explaining How to go from Good To Great. It is a message to each of us that you need to do everything with precision, dedication and thoughtfulness, even the parts that don't show up!
I loved this book all the way. When I read its reviews, when I started listening and when I finished it. As an operations professional, I cannot stress the amount of knowledge it added to me. The numerous examples provided are more than adequate to explain the theory behind.
For me personally, my take on it would be the focus on retail business which is not my line. It would have been great if it tackled a number of disciplines, yet this is the focus of the book and it is meant to be like this.
Best note I have: this book is brought in a forward, clear and simple method to the listener. It really provides a clear perspective into our minds. One thing I have to warn the reader and make very clear. Prof. Novella might put forward thoughts related to conspiracy theories such as 9/11 or human evolution as obvious fallacies which by its own merit contradicts his findings in the lectures. His arguments of 9/11 for example are BIASED towards his views that it wasn't staged so the whole argument is geared in that direction neglecting the full spectrum of arguments against. (Please note that I'm not with that argument as I don't have the full knowledge about the subject) It is an irony that he is acting against his own preachings.
Finally, what makes this rather dangerous that fact that it is brought to us in a "scientific" and "logical" way so any argument against would be futile and stupid!!
The book is a must for people in sales, customer service and surely law enforcement. I believe the findings in the book need refinement as the assumptions are not based on real science rather than observations.
Although I haven't read the series Star Force, I didn't find it difficult to follow with "Army of one". It is well written and I look forward to start listening to the series. Highly recommended.
I was disappointed because the book is great and written in such simple, articulate and easy language, however the narration is horrible! It is the same tone all the way that eventually my mind drifts away and he doesn't finish the sentences right so one might find two different stories narrated as if they are one!
When my wife had her Nokia more than five years ago, whenever she needed to change her ringing tone, she would ask me to do it. The minute she got her first iPhone, she was all over it at so much ease and at that time I thought: "Gosh, the guy who invented that must be brilliant!!".
This biography literally changed my life prospective and made me see so many things I never did! What can I say?! it made me a rebel and I'm no longer tolerant to pitiful mistakes. Steve is the pinnacle of self declaration and confidence. His management style is so effective it could turn around cultures of countries (not companies) in matter of years.
This is beyond a must read for any person looking for what is missing from our life these days: passion.
I have to admit that I don't have troubles planning my financials and this isn't why I bought the book; I bought it because of the author's style in narration.
I don't have to tell you how exciting the book started and when Dave started spelling out the baby steps, I found this book having real solutions to debt issues in all of its kinds. His advice was sincere and real because he has been there himself... Twice.
I would listen to this book again. If not for a great advice, surely to have fun listening to him
I listened to this thriller because I have some kind of affection to sci-fi and the ratings were high. The narrator really drew me in immediately with a very passionate voice and the story started building up. It took great twists and turns almost I lived it. The nice thing is that it turned into a legal thriller; I guess I learned a lot there.
I is worth your credit if you enjoy happy endings
