This is book 1 of the Kowalski Family series. Keri and Joe are high school sweethearts. Then Keri goes away for college and to find professional success as a writer for a magazine. Joe ends up being a very successful horror novel writter. Fast forward 20 years and Keri's boss finds out she has history with Joe and forces her to interview him or lose her job.
I liked many things about this book. Keri was a realistic heroine. She had her flaws, her attitude and a good sense of humor. Joe, was a real man and I loved his determination to get a second chance at love with Keri. The story was interesting, the passion hot and the situations that happened were very relatable. I really liked the POV that the author uses for this book. She lets you know what both Joe and Keri are thinking and feeling. Best of all, the next two books are even better that this one. This is a sweet, funny and sexy contemporary romance and I loved it.
Narration: Lauren Fortgang does a very good job! Every character had a distinct voice and she definitely added life and emotions to the story. Will look for more books narrated by Ms. Fortgang.
Rachel Gibson is one of my favorite authors. Her stories are funny and usually full of an intense romance. This one did not live up to what I expect from her stories. Yes it was funny but the chemistry between the Joe and Gabrielle was not all that. It didn't help that the narrator didn't really add emotion or made the story come alive like others can. It's a fun cute story but not heart melting like her hockey series.
This was another winning combination of superb writing by Lisa Kleypass and amazing narration by Rosalyn Landor. The Hathaways are a fun and eccentric bunch. I'Ve enjoyed this series very much. These books should be read in order but it is not vital.
I loved this story. I didn't read the first one and Indidnt feel lost so that's a good thing. Even though this is a series each book can be stand alone because the story is complete. I loved Kev. He was passionate, intense, loyal and his character went through so many changes and emotions to become the man he was intended to be. I also liked Winn and how she fought to heal and to live life to the fullest. There were several unexpected twists and turns in this story that made it even more interesting and the romance was AMAZING!!! Great chemistry and tension. This was an excellent story and I enjoyed learning a little about the Romani culture.
Narration: Rosalyn Landor is my favorite narrator for historical romances. She nailed the accents and made each character distinct. She also added the emotion and intensity that the story needed. I highly recommend this book!!!
I really like this narrator. Her Scottish accent is perfect (I'm pretty sure she must be from Scotland). She does very distinct voices for all the characters and enhances the story with emotion and intensity.
The story is good. There is a bit more violence that I would like but the romance is hot... And sweet and it has a few twists and turns I wasn't expecting. The ending was very nice too.
I LOVED this story! The romance is very well developed and the sexual tension was hot! The story and the narration were both passionate, intense and very interesting. I can't believe that the rest of the series is not available. Please add more books by this author!!!
Serves me right for buying a book with the word billionaire in the title. Bad writing and bad narration made this a totally painful experience. I feel like I wasted time and money on pure crap.
It felt like three different people wrote this story and didn't really ask the other to keep up with the storyline. The first third of this story is this billionaire Canadian who is basically an illegal alien and needs to get a wife for Inmigration purpose. So far so good and it was like any other Harlequin type novel.
Then the second third he starts taking his new fake wife to a restaurant that they used to go when he was a child (wait, wasn't he from Canada?)
The last third is when the book gets REAL ridiculous. It felt like the author just finished reading Fifty Shades Freed and decided to incorporate Christian Grey's BDSM play into the story. There were very similar parts integrated. Even when the previous submissive came back into the picture. But in this story it didn't make sense and felt very disconnected.
This story is all over the place and there is no real conflict because they never break up or have a huge fight or anything. The love connection wasn't there either. All in all one of the worst audible titles I've ever bought.
Holy breathy narration! What's up with that. Breath! There was too much whispering and breathy narration to make this book enjoyable. I know the storyline was pathetic but the narration did not make it better at all. Skip this one.
Think about every cliche you've ever read about in romance novels and this one has it. It's so predictable and boring that I can't believe I manage to finish it. Young woman who's a virgin comes to work for handsome billionaire. They fall in lust at first sight. They have sex once without protection and obviously she gets pregnant. Add a medling billionaire father in law that has made his life's mission to make his sons marry and give him grand babies and you have a predictable fluff... With a happily ever after. An average unremarkable narration does not really redeem this story. Skip this one...
What a pleasant surprise! This book had no reviews but I found the blurb to be interesting so I gave it try. Well it far exceeded my expectations. Even though the story is only three and a half hours long it feels complete. It's a very emotional journey. Chris was hurt in combat and left blind. When he was hurt he broke up with Beth over a two sentence email because he didn't want to let her know about his injuries and have him be a burden to her. But a blizzard forces Chris to ask Beth for help when he is stranded at the airport.
Listening to the story brought tears to my eyes several times. It was very emotional to see how hurt and betrayed Beth was and how difficult it was for her to trust in Chris again. On the other hand Chris was also battling PTSD and his own strong feelings towards Beth. It was such a beautiful story. I was so rooting for them and for a satisfying Happily ever After and the story did not disappoint. The narrator also did an excellent job portraying the emotions of the characters and added extra intensity to the story.
I highly recommend this little gem!!
I liked this story a lot. The characters felt very real and their struggles were belieable. Our heroine lost her husband after a very long illness. Our hero was hurt in war and was left disabled. Their journey to starting over their lives made them fall in love with each other. The excellent narration of Rosalyn Landor adds extra emotion to the story.
As an added bonus after the main story ends you get a free novella called The Suitor. It's only an hour and a half long so it's very brief but it was good as well and felt pretty complete.
I really enjoy historical romances and I was looking for a short story (novella). This was exactly was I was looking for, a short and sizzling hot story that mostly centers in the romance of our hero and heroine. It's fast paced due to how short it is but it's intense and complete. I also liked the fact that these were normal people. No dukes, count, king, nothing.., Just two people falling in love and struggling with poverty, temptation and the different life struggles. It also has a mild Christmas theme that I enjoyed.
A good story can only get even better with good narration. Rosalyn Landor is my favorite historical romance narrator and she did an excellent job with this story as always. Her male voices and accents are impeccable. She adds so much emotion to her characters that you can really live the story. Highly recommended for historical romance fans who are in the mood for a quickie... Listen.
