Philip Horkman is a happy man - the owner of a pet store called The Wine Shop, and on Sundays a referee for kids' soccer. Jeffrey Peckerman is the sole sane person in a world filled with goddamned jerks and morons, and he's having a really bad day. The two of them are about to collide in a swiftly escalating series of events that will send them running for their lives, pursued by the police, soldiers, terrorists, subversives, bears, and a man dressed as Chuck E. Cheese.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

    Yes. Tremendous fun.

Who was your favorite character and why?

There were really only 2, which is the point of the story. The interplay is very funny

What about Dave Barry’s performance did you like?

    He "was" the character

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

I usually to not seek out "comedies", but this came as a recommendation from a friend as a good break from more "serious" content. I have to say that I laughed out loud more often than not. This is not high-brow humor, but the dialogue was hysterical. A pretty short book, which serves as a nice, fun interlude

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

I heard this book recommended by an unusual source, and I decided to give it a try. It is of course a "futuristic" themed novel, but with easily conceivable components. For those of us who were teens/young adults in the '80's it will likely conjure up some fun memories as the "historical" details of the music and games are earily detailed and amazingly accurate. I found myself going back to some old albums and songs referenced to double check! It is not sophisticated per se, but it was a fun listen.

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

The Mitch Rapp books are always a lot of fun and this one was no exception. Fast paced and ends leaving you wanting more.
