I've liked other Baldacci books in the past so I will probably try another one.
Heck no, two readers with little chemistry killed the flow of what little plot there was.
I wanted to like this book, but the sound effects plus poor performance made it tough to get into.
Thought everything about this book was funny and interesting. Great plot provided for comedic interactions between interesting small town characters.
Similar authors would be Elmore Leonard, but the writing is smarter. Or Carl Hiasson but the characters are much more defined and enjoyable. The book has the same quirky humor as those authors but the story flows better and the funny parts seem more genuine.
I enjoyed the interaction between the brothers, the upstanding one is scared to make a wrong move and the scoundrel is fearless, I also enjoyed the bonding that took place between Clive and Little Brother, the distrusting scarred up pit bull. In fact the characters in this book are all interesting and I'm looking forward to a sequel in order to get know them better. The characters are quirky and funny.
Scott Brick is rated highly and I don't understand why. He OVER enunciates EVERYTHING! To the point where a character could be making coffee and the narration makes it seem like an arduous task that required months of contemplation. This eventually makes you miss the highlights of the story because there is no contrast in the telling. Its so bad, that it makes me feel dumb for tolerating the narration to get through the book.
Smart, dedicated, worldly
Earl, the boxing coach, making him take pride in the trophy he had received. It was a powerful lesson and the dichotomy between Eric and Earl's backgrounds was very poignant.
Why don't people of this caliber run for office?
Narrator was fine, better than most. But this story became trite and over dramatic, the action was consistently over the top and so non stop that it became noise. It was hard to buy into the varied dramatic settings.
I enjoyed to first book, and forgave some of the silliness, but in this book the intrigue of the main character wore off and I started rooting for the book to be over.
