From the author of The Power of One comes an inspiring human drama of three lives brought together and changed forever by the extraordinary events of recent history. Inspired by real events, Bryce Courtenay's new novel tells the story of three people from vastly differing backgrounds. All they have in common is a tough beginning in life.

An all round well written and read book. Nice detail of historical events and locations. I enjoyed the reading - enough accents without the overblown hard to understand nuances many readers bring. I did not want it to end. Very realistic as in that all the endings of the inner stories did not all turn out the way we might want them to… gave the book a very realistic feel.

Elena Klovis was supposed to be her kingdom's Cinderella - until an accident of fate left her with a completely inappropriate prince! Determined not to remain with her stepfamily, Elena set out to get a new job - and ended up becoming the Fairy Godmother for the land. But "Breaking with Tradition" was no easy matter. True, she didn't have to sleep in the chimney, but she had to deal with arrogant, stuffed-shirt princes who kept trying to rise above their place in the tale.

While parts of the writing may seem to be a bit 'young adult' there a few steamy parts that I would not want my teen nieces to hear - but nothing too x rated. An all round fun read.
The narrator was easy to listen to and the Cinderella theme was not too overbearing.

But now, someone is out to take his place as Master Vampire of the city of New Orleans, and is not afraid to go through Jane to do it. Quite early in the book there is a distressing development - I almost put the book down thinking I didn't really want a stressful book. After half a day though, I found I had become so attached to the main character that I had to come back to the book...
I am so very glad I listened all the way through. You may be too.

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

This book has lodged in my brain and I will never be the same. I found it hard to sleep a couple of nights thinking how I would handle the situations presented in the book.
There is a feeling of reality to the story that is difficult it these days of overblown horror novels.

What did you love best about Ghost Story?

The writing is still great; and engrossing enough to help me over the abrupt change of narrators...

What did you like best about this story?

I can't say - it would give too much away about the story...

What didn???t you like about John Glover???s performance?

After listening to all 12 other Dresdan books you are expecting characters to sound a certain way, have a certain cadence to their speech, for names to be pronounced a certain way. I am not sure Glover heard any of Marsters Dresdan work but it might have helped to make the transition easier on us.

What did you like best about this story?

What about James Marsters???s performance did you like?

He is so good and consistant all the way thru the series. You really get to recognise the different characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

There were some Dresdan episodes! lets bring them back!

Author of Sutter's Cross, a Booklist Top Pick, W. Dale Cramer evokes the ambiance of a small Southern town in this inspiring novel. Jeremy's mother has passed away, leaving him with an odd request. He is to find his Uncle Aiden, a hardrock miner, and stay with him, regardless of Aiden's wishes. Jeremy's faith in God gives him the courage to find the humanity behind this tough-as-steel man.

The book is a nice uplifting tale, and while a bit contrived; I enjoyed the storyline. However, the mouth noises of the narrator were distracting.
