A year ago, Cal Thompson was a college freshman more interested in meeting girls and partying than in attending biology class. Now, after a fateful encounter with a mysterious woman named Morgan, biology has become, literally, Cal's life.

    Overall

This is the book for an medical, biology or health nut, but even us regular folks like it. It is for young and old. It is not really a true YA book, but it doesn't have too much romance or violence to keep it from being suitable for the 12 and up scene either.

At first I was "weirded out" by Cal's southern draw in the middle of New York City (urban fantasy), but he grew on me, kinda like a parasite weaving its way through my brain's assumptions about who Cal is and what is to be vampire.

This book is not the typical Twilight, Vampire Academy or House of Night novel (I loved all of them). Instead it is more cerebral and chilling with the whole history of parasites interwoven with a love story and creepy interludes with cat worshiping rats. Truly unique!

I'm going to try the sequel, even though the reviews are not as good.

"My name is different every month: Brandy, Honey, Amy. Sometimes Joe doesn't even bother to ask, but he never fails to arouse me with his body, his mouth, his touch, no matter what I'm called or where he picks me up. The sex is always amazing....My real name is Sadie, and once a month, over lunch, Joe tells me about his latest conquest. But what Joe doesn't know is that, in my mind, I'm the star of every one-night stand he has revealed to me, or that I'm practically obsessed with our imaginary sex life."

    "Megan Hart is Amazing"
    Overall

I have never read or listened to romance novels in the past, but when Audible had Hart's Tempted on sale for $4.95, I gave it try. At first I was shocked at the explicitly, but none of the romance was raunchy. I found I was enthralled by the story as much as the tantalizing details.

So, when it was time for a new download, I got Dirty by Hart because the reviews were better than Broken. I found that I liked Dirty better than Tempted. Of course I had to try Broken.

Broken will take you from flawless fantasy and desire to heart wrenching despair. I had read the reviews...I thought I knew what was coming, but still I wept.

What Hart does best is tell a story that feels like it could be happening to you or a friend. She clearly defines her characters and weaves the sex into the plot in a way that is hard to imagine. It just works! And amazingly she is able to re-create this realistic combination of sex and contemporary fiction book after book.

As others have said, if you don't want sexual detail this book is not for you. If you like a good story and some spice, then you will love it.

When it comes to relationships, Colin Singleton's type is girls named Katherine. And when it comes to girls named Katherine, Colin is always getting dumped. Nineteen times, to be exact. On a road trip miles from home, this anagram-happy, washed-up child prodigy has ten thousand dollars in his pocket, a bloodthirsty feral hog on his trail, and an overweight, Judge Judy-loving best friend riding shotgun - but no Katherines.

I have become a huge John Green fan. I listened to Paper Towns first (his latest). Paper Towns is better than Katherines but both are well done, funny and the narrator is perfect for the male characters that tell the story.

Life sucks when your friends are pissed at you. Just ask Zoey Redbird. In one week she has gone from having three boyfriends to having none, and from having a close group of friends who trusted and supported her to being an outcast. Speaking of friends, the only two Zoey has left are undead and unMarked. And Neferet has declared war on humans, which Zoey knows in her heart is wrong.

    "Narrator too young sounding"
    Overall

As an adult I have enjoyed reading the House of Night series. I regularly listen to audio books. So, when I saw the forth book available on audible I decided to get it. I was very disappointed. This book is about a 17 year almost adult vampire. This narrator makes all the characters, including adults sound like they are about ten years old.

As noted on Amazon, this series is not for children. It is for an older teenager (16+) and the content is mature, which is another reason why the narrator just does not work. I'm going to read the book, and stop listening.
