As a prosecutor in Houston, Penn Cage sent killers to death row. But as mayor of his hometown - Natchez, Mississippi - Penn will face his most dangerous threat. Urged by old friends to try to restore this fading jewel of the Old South, Penn has ridden into office on a tide of support for change. But in its quest for new jobs and fresh money, Natchez has turned to casino gambling, and now five steamboats float on the river beside the old slave market, like props from Gone With the Wind.

    "Worst Narration/Good Story"
    Overall

This has to be the worst narration I have ever heard. I will never purchase another audible download with this narrator. The book itself was very entertaining. I stopped listening after chapter 5 and went out and purchased the book. Not as great a story as Greg Isles is famous for but entertaining and worth a listen.

    "Excellent Entertainment"
    Overall

True to his first novel The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo-Steig Larsson wrote a higly entertaining book with memorable characters. Just when you think you know where the plot is heading there are twists and turns that will leave you enthralled and wanting more. I did not want this book to end. Loved the narration-it was right on the mark.

    "AWESOME"
    Overall

What a wonderful story. Mezmerising characters. I listened to the entire story without pausing unless absolutely necessary. I made sure my pants had pockets in which to carry my zune with me at all times. Did not want this book to end. The narrator was one of the best I have listened too.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

I was completely riveted by the characters in this book. Haven't we all know a "Hilly" in our lives? Found myself unable to stop listening. The book was one of the best I've listened to in years.

While the book begins with an interesting story line...it's ending leaves the reader with too many unanswered questions.
