I thought this book had lots of potential but the plot had some reality problems. I liked Lacey, the main female character a lot, who was smart, funny and strong. However, when her brother is murdered, the plot has her getting romantically involved with 2 her brother's childhood friends within days of the funeral. So not happening!!! Next, the 2 friends Mason & Tyler (2 sexy cops who secretly bisexual), spend more time trying to get Lacey in bed than investigating the murder of a fellow cop. Again, not happening. All the characters were interesting and believable; the story just need a reality check. Excellent narrator!
Hannah, a naïve young 24 year old woman, is kidnapped, beaten and raped (she said no) by the 3 brothers who own the company where she works. In this misogynist fantasy, Hannah, who had been crushing on the brothers for months, supposedly enjoys this brutal treatment - any attention was better than nothing in her immature mind. In what world is this erotic? Men who get hard when they hit a woman are NOT romantic heroes, just total jerks. As the brothers abuse her, they talk about her in the most demeaning terms, as if she is an animal, not a human being.
I was incredibly disappointed to find another book about sadists & misogynists disguised as an erotic novel. Riley (early 20s) meets Cade (34) and his best friend Trevor on her first day in NYC in the nightclub he owns. Riley is sweet, funny, caring and extremely naïve; Cade is jaded, self-absorbed, privileged and a Sadist. Trevor runs a charity that helps teen boys escape poverty, drugs & gangs, while he enjoys hitting, biting, manipulating, and dominating young girls. Ironic and hypocritical? Cade & Trevor decide that Riley should be their sex toy with no regard for her mind or feelings and she thinks it's a romantic adventure! In less than 24 hours, Riley allows herself to be screwed in public, taken to their private penthouse, tied up & clamped, penetrated without condoms, basically becoming their sex slave. Just too creepy for words! The quality of the writing is excellent, as well as the narration, but I found the plot to be insulting to my gender. In 2014, I can't believe that romance novels are still portraying women as mindless, spineless doormats that will do anything for male attention.
Mac, who enjoys sharing women with his best friend Jethro, gets married to Keiley and tries to become a "normal" married man. When he feels that something is missing, Mac asks Jethro to visit and hopes that Keiley will be adventurous enough to try a menage.
The men set out to seduce Keiley with loving attention and humor. This causes a scandal in their small southern town and attracts a a mad man bent on revenge.
Forbidden Pleasure is an engrossing combination of suspense, erotic sex and interesting characters, with good dialogue and excellent narration.
Fun and sexy story of childhood friends who find love in a menage on a Hawaiian island. There is suspense from a stalker old boyfriend and drama when family & friends find out about the threesome. Lots of loving sex and no violence - my kind of romantic novel.
This is one of my all time favorites; a book I can listen to once a year and enjoy every time.I just loved the quirky residents of Lunacy and the detailed description of Alaska (which I would only want to visit in summer).
I really liked the character of Raine, now 24, who was smart, sassy and loving. At 15 or 16, she who ran for her life from a violent incident and survived on the her own until she was found by Hammer. He owned a sex club and gave Raine a safe place to live, work and grow up.
Hammer protected Raine from the sex and violence in the club until she professed her love for him, then he became a total jerk. Hammer's best friend Liam also claimed to care about Raine but both men were too overbearing and violent for my taste.
Raine falls in love with both men and doesn't want to ruin their friendship. Hammer & Liam are loving one moment, bullies the next. I wanted Raine to maintain her backbone, dump them both and find a REAL MAN who doesn't hit woman.
This story was incredibly well written, the characters multi-faceted & interesting and Raine was endearing. As always, Christian Fox was a joy to hear. The huge negative for me were the 2 male characters who believed it was okay to abuse & degrade Raine because it's acceptable in "THE LIFESTYLE"
On 3 different occasions, I tried listening to this book about Raine, a young girl (23) living in a sex club. Attempting to keep an open mind, I was curious about this alternative lifestyle but just can't grasp the erotic appeal of being someone's doormat and punching bag.
Hammer (40+) , the club's owner, found Raine when she was a homeless teen & gave her a safe place to live. Very kind! Years later, when she makes a pass at Hammer, he rejects her advances, hits her and threatens to turn her over to a sadist for punishment. Not so nice! Hammer & his friend Liam (30+) talk about caring for Raine while humiliating, whipping & using her for sex.
What sane & self-respecting woman would agree to allowing a bully to exploit her body and feelings under the guise of "learning submission" and in return for crumbs of affection. What kind of sane & consensual behavior involves bruising, inflicting pain, sexual assault and crushing a person's spirit and dignity?
This is a well crafted book with engrossing characters, humorous dialogue and suspense with excellent narration. Without the physical violence, it could have been an romantic & entertaining story in a unique setting. As is, I can't recommend One dome to Love.
Another almost fun adventure, this time about 3 attractive men who kidnap Kinley a naïve virgin who is about to marry a con man Greg. The men (Dom, Law & Riley) are looking for information to prove Greg is actually a murderer and thief, not a respectable businessmen. However, the men (2 brothers and their best friend) must have split personalities because one moment they are rational adults who want justice for one of Greg's victim and the next moment they are treating Kinley like dirt. They use sex, intimidation, physical force and verbal insults to grill Kinley for evidence against Greg, always assuming the worst of her. Somehow she finds this exciting & romantic, because she becomes attracted to these strange men who aren't nice to her, probably because she is used to abusive behavior from her family. Well I understand this is just fiction, I really wanted Kinley to bury them all in a snow bank & go find one or more men who would adore her, not abuse her. What jerks!
Leah and Kate, best friends and educated professionals, are spending several days at a conference. Kate has a secret older boyfriend Dix and Leah just dumped lover & meets hunky younger Brandon. The writing was good, but I found the characters (except Brandon) acted too immature and self absorbed for their ages. Sex in a parking lot...ogling the opposite sex like teens...not having enough confidence in their abilities. While containing some amusing and interesting scenes, this book was missing something.
Mostly, this is a sexy fantasy about a "princess" and her 3 gorgeous guards in a faraway country where multiple husbands are a tradition. Totally unrealistic but well written with family drama, romance and intrigue. However, like many other recent erotic novels, the men are "doms' who occasionally feel the need to hit the woman they supposedly love and the woman believes that being hit is somehow exciting & romantic. With the abundance of real violence against women, I do not appreciate brutality in my erotic fiction.
