I enjoyed almost everything about this book except the occasional graphic descriptions of violence. I will likely listen to more by this author as long as I can fast forward through any blood and guts. I understand why violence is part of the storyline but I really don't need the endless details of suffering when the book's real draw is the legal situations and the leading character.

I made the mistake of purchasing the first 2 books in this series before leaving for a long weekend of driving, hoping for enjoyable entertainment on the road. I found the first book was extremely disappointing - rich Australian playboy seduces young American girl with no self respect.

Since I had nothing to lose, I started the 2nd book, where Jack (29) decides he loves Laurelyn (22), tracks her down in the states and tries to win her back. However, Jack seemed to care only about his own emotional & physical needs, asking Laurelyn to leave her country and career for him. What a prize!

I didn't finish it and don't believe I missed much....

Jack McLachlan is a winemaking magnate and easily one of Australia's most eligible bachelors. His success and wealth makes him no stranger to the complications of romantic relationships and that's why he goes to extreme measures to avoid the hassle. He prefers simplicity in the form of a beautiful female companion with no strings attached. He arranges relationships like business deals and they're always the same. No long term relationships. No real names.

Jack, a 29 year old Australian millionaire, was not an interesting or likeable character to me. Yes, he was a loving son, brother, and uncle but thought women not related to him were just alive to meet his sexual needs.

Enter Laurelyn, a 21 or 22 year old American girl with a self-absorbed mother and absent father, who was desperate for male attention. She agrees to be Jack's 3 month girlfriend, hopping into bed without any health screenings, putting up with secrets & bad moods and knowing that she will be dumped at the end. Really?

While Jack wasn't physically abusive (BDSM crap), he was not someone I would want a friend or family member to date. When exactly did our "romantic heroes" become rich idiots who treat women as objects? Also, the narration was strange and distracting.

The president knows it's a perilous, high-risk assignment. If he gives the order, he has the opportunity to take down a global menace, once and for all. If the mission fails, he would face certain impeachment, and the threats against the nation would multiply. So the president turns to the one team that can pull off the impossible: Will Robie and his partner, Jessica Reel. Together, Robie and Reel's talents as assassins are unmatched. But there are some in power who don't trust the pair.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 Will Robie books which had touches of humor, The Target (3rd in the series) is just too dark and cynical for my tastes.

It was incredibly well written and compelling but I had to fast forward through too many parts (prison camps, torture, graphic murder scenes).

I tried several times to finish the book - I am a huge Davd Baldacci fan - but I eventually had to stop listening. I enjoy suspense, mystery and action without the blood, gore & guts.

Overworked CEO Ellison Thorne has no time for sex, let alone romance. The only answer, at least where his retiring business partner Beverly is concerned, is a no-strings sex clause in her replacement’s contract, designed to make Ellis’ busy life easier - and hotter. But she’s joking, right? When Dee Henning takes over Beverly’s job, sparks fly between her and Ellis, but work takes priority in driven Dee’s life too. Can one night of passion in a Paris hotel room prove Beverly’s Sex Clause is their secret to success in the boardroom and the bedroom, and what will happen if that private clause becomes public knowledge?

I gave up half way through the 3rd book in this juvenile series, Although the characters were over 25, it felt like I was listening to a bad teenage soap opera. The narration was excellent, which is probably the only reason I got this far.

Wealthier and more powerful than most men his age, Tristan Stone merely has to give voice to his desires and whatever he wants is his. Money has given him the ability to say nothing and no one is beyond his reach. Except for Nina. Stripped of her memory after an accident, she doesn't remember the man who loves her. Now he must find a way to show her why she fell in love with him, but the past is always just a step behind, threatening to take her away forever.

The saga of Nina (24) and Tristan (29) dragged on for hours: well meaning lies, family misunderstandings, make-up sex, sinister strangers, murder plots and more unprotected sex.

While parts of the story were funny and the writing was engrossing, I was frustrated when this couple did not learn to honestly communicate when wearing clothes.

What would you give up for everything? Tristan Stone was powerful, commanding, and sex incarnate. And he wore it all so well. From the moment his mesmerizing gaze met mine, I had no choice but surrender to everything he was. His power. His decadence. His passion. He was all I never knew I needed. He wanted to possess me, and I wanted to be his everything. All I had to do was accept what he offered. But everything has a price.

While the writing was excellent, the main characters Nina (24) and Tristan (29) acted more like immature teens than young professionals.

I hope someday this author writes a series about confident, responsible adults - a book doesn't need endless, contrived drama to be engrossing.

I thought this was a book about 3 mature & confident women (late 30s, 40s) who are looking for adventure and love. Not so much...

Instead, these women were as insecure and timid as teenagers who didn't know their own minds. They don't talk to the men in their lives about anything important or even confide in their female friends. What martyrs!

These women go to a sex club to "have their sexual attractiveness" validated by strangers. Seriously? What a disappointment.

For Rose Gardner, working at the DMV on a Friday afternoon is bad even before she sees a vision of herself dead. She's had plenty of visions, usually boring ones like someone's toilet's overflowed, but she's never seen one of herself before. When her overbearing momma winds up murdered on her sofa instead, two things are certain: There isn't enough hydrogen peroxide in the state of Arkansas to get that stain out, and Rose is the prime suspect.

New York Times best-selling author Kat Martin launches a riveting contemporary romance series starring the Raines boys of Wind Canyon, Wyoming. Back in high school, Jackson Raines was humiliated by the beautiful Sarah Allen, who wanted out of Wind Canyon at any cost. Now Jackson reluctantly opens his ranch to the recently widowed Sarah. And as sparks ignite, he finds himself protecting her from her dead husband’s shady business partners.

    Story

While the writing was good, I found the main female character Sarah to be wimpy, boring and sometimes just stupid. Sarah allowed herself to be pressured by the cool kids in high school to be cruel to Jackson, a poor boy who had a crush on her.

Next Sarah drops out of college to marry a rich man for financial security, never holding a job. When her husband becomes physically abusive she stays with him for years, even after having a daughter.

After her husband is killed, Sarah runs back to her home town and tries to hide from thugs who believe she has something valuable. Of course, she never reports anything to the police or carries a weapon to protect herself & child.

Somehow Jackson - all grown up, financially secure and too generous - is willing to take care of Sarah & her daughter (the kid is much more appealing than the mother), immediately falling madly in love. Sorry but I like strong, self sufficient women characters.
