Great story. Author evokes the setting and times very well. Lots of intrigue and suspense. Entertaining. Good reader.
This is a great story. The author's presentation of the culture and setting was fascinating.
I was unable to really read or understand this novel during college. I thought that listening might make me more able to appreciate Joyce--Or at least complete it. Unfortunately that didn't work.
Narrator was boring, but I might have been biased.
I enjoyed this version of this story very much. The narrator is excellent.
This book has a great premise, but it did not work for me. It seemed too long, to the point where the maing character seemed whiny. The narrator was OK during the lighte or funny parts, but I found him annoying during the more serious/dramatic parts of the story.
To me, the Virgin Suicides by the same author is a MUCH more enjoyable listen
Of course this is a great novel with excellent character development and intriguing plot. The narrator is very good as well.
This novel is great on many levels--adventure, suspense, philosophical, cultural. Even funny at times.
The narrator is great--perfect.
Great development of characters in this novel. Author evokes the time and place very well. Narrator is very good.
The narrator does a very vood job of evoking the darkness of this novel. Good story.
Moving story. Typical examination of moral dilemma by this author. Ending was heartbreaking but probably appropriate. Narration was very good.
