Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from destruction by the mighty forces of King Galbatorix, cruel ruler of the Empire. Now Eragon must travel to Ellesmera, land of the elves, for further training in the skills of the Dragon Rider: magic and swordsmanship. Soon he is on the journey of a lifetime, his eyes open to awe-inspiring new places and people, his days filled with fresh adventure. But chaos and betrayal plague him at every turn, and nothing is what it seems.

I found this a poor attempt to continue the story of Eragon. I was very hopeful that the story would low as the first one did but have found it hard to get any excitement out of this Book 2. I would not recammend and am sorry that I wasted 2 credits to get this book. I will slog through to the end but will not wasted money on the next book.

So very disappointed that the author decided that a plagiarized version of the Agatha Cristie classic was a good idea. throw in some politics and bible sermons and this is suppose to be a good idea. Sorry I am not impressed. I wish there had been a few more reviews that mentioned tis and I would never have bothered to try out the author.

The narrator was good but that only goes so far.

Gilbert Morris needs to come up with his own ideas not steal from famous authors.

When Deputy Coroner Mattie Winston and her boss/best friend, Izzy, are called to the home of waitress and part-time model Shannon Tolliver, they find the ghoulish Halloween decorations a bit too authentic. Among the fake blood and skeletons is the corpse of Shannon herself. Since the whole town knows Shannon recently had a very public spat with her estranged husband, Erik, he's suspect number one. But Mattie happens to know Erik truly loved his wife, and is simply incapable of the brutal act - even if he owns the exact same caliber handgun as the murder weapon.…

I gave the second book the chance to get more into the mystery side of thing, it was a mistake. Again the main character was the focus not solving the crime. I had thought that after the first book it would have been focused on solving the murder, but the author seems to be more interested in charters not the mystery.

But Mattie's first homicide call turns out to be for none other than Nurse Karen, and even though she saw her ex in a heated argument with the newly deceased the night before, she refuses to believe David could be a killer.

This was more of a biography of the main character rather then a mystery to be solved. If I wanted a biography I would have looked in that section not the mystery/ thriller section.

Someone wanted to get their hands on the rare cookbook that Doris had recently purchased-and the locals think that someone is Tricia.

The characters were weak and the title character was a whining sap, with flashes of bravado that never rang true. If it were not for the narration the whole thing would have been a bust but the performer can only do so much for the content. Better to find a different author this one did not develop any character in her characters.

Two teenage consequences! Keeping her children's paternity under wraps has always been part of Casey's plan to give them normal, uncomplicated lives. This was the worst story line anyone could come up with. I have read a couple of this authors books and thought that this one sounded okay but after about the fist hour of listening I was amazed that anyone could come up with such a ridiculous idea. To advertise this as romance is false advertising. It would be better in the comedy section and even better in total farce. It was not the narrators fault as I have listened to him read other stories. This was one that the author should have left in the garbage bin. Please do not waste your time on this one. I will not buy another of her stories. Bad!!!!

Somewhere in the once-placid streets of San Francisco, a young man is on the run, charged by the media with a crime he didn't commit, hounded by demagogues, hunted by a desperate police department. One cop knows that Kevin Shea is innocent of a brutal racial murder. An ambitious politician will use Shea for her own ends. And a down-and-out lawyer is all that stands between Kevin Shea and an even more atrocious crime. For when there's no law left, justice is the only hope.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This could be a very good book but the monotone, lifeless narrator has made it a story I can not get excited to listen to.

What didn’t you like about David Colacci’s performance?

    Any additional comments?

After listening to the Percy Jackson Series of books my kids and I were really looking forward to this new series it was very disappointing. The story line was forced and seemed to just be a bunch of knowledge about the differences between the Roman Gods and the Greek one. I finished the book but it lost the kids attention about 15 minutes into it. The story just did not flow very well. I should have only bought the first book of the series but I unfortunately bought both at the same time so am stuck with the second book. Not sure it will ever be listened to.
