This is a wonderful story in the style of Asimov, Heinlein, Clark and Herbert. It is a wonderful thought provoking story about the history of man and his impact on the earth and and the rest of the universe. The story if so well written you will want to keep listening all the way through.. Very enjoyable !!

When linguist Andrew Dennison is yanked from his bed by the Secret Service and taken to a top secret facility in the desert, he has no idea he’s been brought there to translate the words of an ancient demon. He joins pretty but cold veterinarian Sun Jones, eccentric molecular biologist Dr. Frank Belgium, and a hodge-podge of religious, military, and science personnel to try and figure out if the creature is, indeed, Satan. But things quickly go bad, and very soon Andy isn’t just fighting for his life, but the lives of everyone on earth.

The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.

I love the writing and story. The characters were well developed and interesting. The story was exciting then came the end... it was a total let down. There is no end. You are just left cliffhanging and no satisfaction at all. Don’t buy this book unless you also purchase Judas Unchained. There was notice that this was part of a trilogy but I failed to notice that fact so the end came as a shock to me. So I am downloading the next one and hopefully it will pick up were this left off. I have no problem with the narrator, where several other reviews complained. As with most audio books it is like listening to the old radio programs. You mind takes you were no visual images can every manage.
