Mikael Blomkvist, crusading journalist and publisher of the magazine Millennium, has decided to publish a story exposing an extensive sex trafficking operation between Eastern Europe and Sweden, implicating well-known and highly placed members of Swedish society, business, and government. On the eve of publication, the two reporters responsible for the story are brutally murdered.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire are among my favorite book series. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo left me wanting more and The Girl Who Played with Fire didn't just deliver ... but hit it clear out of the park. Lizbeth Salendar is an unforgettable contemporary character / superhero. I hear there is 1 additional sequel completed and 2 others that were partially finished prior to the author's passing. I will be the first pre-order. Simon Vance is perfect in his narration.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

    Story

I am one of those that rarely write reviews but felt compelled to do so for this book. This is the best "geek" book since Snow Crash. I could totally relate to the world depicted and the corresponding choices that many would make to escape into a virtual reality world instead of the real world. The video game backdrop was magnificent and the research that supported this storyline was phenomenal. I love video games and have played them all my life so the nostalgia of the games referenced in the book brought smiles to my face. The character dialog and reading by Will Wheaton drew me into the world and I didn't want to leave. The love story and tension created by the transition from virtual to real world had me on the edge of my seat although the outcome was rather predictable. While I understand this book will only appeal to a limited audience, I hope Ernest Cline and Will Wheaton make this a series and continue with these characters. For those of us who fit the target audience, it doesn't get any better than this. Genius!
