Why we think it’s a great listen: A performance so poignant, we gave Bronson Pinchot (yes, Balki from Perfect Strangers) our inaugural Narrator of the Year award.... In the monsoon season of 1968-69 at a fire support base called Matterhorn, located in the remote mountains of Vietnam, a young and ambitious Marine lieutenant wants to command a company to further his civilian political ambitions. But two people stand in his way.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I can't recommend this book. The narration was great but the story was tedious. A condensed version would be; "f--k, f--k, puss, blood, guts, leeches, no water, no food, all my f--king friends die, f--k, f--k, f--k! This goes on for hours and the ending was very unsatisfying.

The only interesting thing was to listen/feel what the soldiers went through. War is hell and so was this book. Wished there was a more interesting ending.

Did Matterhorn inspire you to do anything?

It reaffirmed my strong opposition to unjustified wars!

    Any additional comments?

Save your credits. I'm sure there are better books on the VN war.

What would have made The Edge of Never better?

The writing and narration were mediocre! If it wasn't for the language, and graphic sex scenes, I would have thought this was a "young reader's" selection. Corny, dumb, and way too long for such a shallow plot.

Save your time and credit for something better.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

I have enjoyed audible.com for several years and listened to many amazing stories. This is one of the best I've listened to. The narrators were incredible. The story line pulled me in and wrapped around me like a soft warm blanket. This book was simply delicious, I didn't want it to end!
