Having read this right after finishing Hyperion, I kept looking at the front cover to make sure the author was the same, the story was, ( is ) great and very compelling but the writing style and story seemed to be in a competly different style then Hyperion.
It continues the story of Hyperion and expands on it. If your only have two credits left, get Hyperion and the Fall of...
Listed as Sci-Fi this book is Horror. Better then any thing King has written in years, If you have not read a good horror story lately, this is it.
Ps. to Dan Simmons and Audible, "Carrion Comfort"
Like Kings “Fire Starter” , “The Waste Lands” Kicks you in the butt and drags you across Mid world so fast you can not catch your breath.
The Gasher Man. Had a way with words.
He is the BEST. Went to WaveDancer Foundation in New York.. We lost a great talent. Respect to his family. If you put in Frank Mullers name as a search he did great works on all the books he did. Very sad and I miss him. Was like a friend telling me the story. Did voices, inflections and what ever else he felt would carry the story. God Bless
Hard question when you take the stooges out of the equasion. I would like to take Murcy. She could spin a tail.
Just that this was the first book of the series that I read. Then went to 1 and 2. I beleave If i had tryed 1 the 2 in order with out reading 3, I do not beleave I would have finished them. As I say 3 draws you in and gets you to care about these people. 1 and 2 are long prologs. With out the feeling i got from book three I would not care about the back storey, or the prolog of how the band met. went 3,1,2,3 (enjoyed just as much as the first reading), 4. no other books out soon due to , well , you know. so I read 3 again then 1,2,3,4 and by then 5 was soon to come out.
have read or listened to each book 5X or More. Book 3 I would say 8X at least.
tearjerker, exciting, thrilling
The human touch
no- to much to absord
As stated, this is at least the tenth time for this story. My fav. is book 3, had to listen to that 12X. Not going to give a single word away of story or plot. Enjoy.
Have listened to the whole series and this is a good as the rest. a must for any Dark Shadows fans of old.
Really enjoy all of the Doctor Delaware books. and as usual John Rubinstein does a great job.
I am a 49 year old male who loves Sookie. Being a life long Dark Shadows fan this series of books is great. It's entertaining, funny, sad. I will admite when it reaches the bedroom I fast forward, but other than that I am enthralled.
I enjoyed True Blood on HBO so while listening to this book I can see the characters in my mind. Its a fun ( very dark at times ) adventure of Sookie and her strange friends. A+. I am a Man over 40 and a Fan of Dark Shadows. If you like DS you will like this.
This is like a long cheezy twilight zone. Think of Kings "The Mist" under glass. The reader is fine. I did listen to the whole thing so I guess I got my credit's worth. Still.....
Have seen the true blood series on HBO and enjoyed. A big Dark Shadows fan and really enjoyed T.B.. This book more or less takes place after the last season. I listened to and the narrator sounds so much like Sookie from the show it uncannie. I usually do not like female readers, they do not do men voices well but J. Parker does a good job. In fact she does a great job all around. From the show I can picture the characters in my head and really enjoy the book more for it. I have ended up getting the whole series.
No spoilers, just enjoying the book and reader.
I live in the Philly area and enjoyed the book very much. It made me laugh out loud one second and had me weeping the next. Scott Brick, as always, did a great job. I can not beleave some of the bad reviews I have read, I enjoyed very much.
