  • Decision Points

    • ABRIDGED (7 hrs and 3 mins)
    • By George W. Bush
    • Narrated By George W. Bush

In gripping, never-before-heard detail, President Bush brings listeners inside the Texas governor's mansion on the night of the hotly contested 2000 election; aboard Air Force One on 9/11, in the hours after America's most devastating attack since Pearl Harbor; at the head of the table in the Situation Room in the moments before launching the war in Iraq; and behind the Oval Office desk for numerous historic and controversial decisions.

    Shirley says: "straight forward"
    "Right or wrong...It's REAL"

This was a beautiful ambition. This is a vivid depiction of how the man came to the principiled decisions. Even if you disagree with the priciples, you'll come away with fresh insight into the man and his motives. I loved hearing it in his own words.

  • 1st to Die: The Women's Murder Club

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 1 min)
    • By James Patterson
    • Narrated By Suzanne Toren
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

There's a killer on the loose in San Francisco, and he's stalking newlyweds. When the usual procedures to stop him don't work, four women, each holding a piece of the puzzle, form a Women's Murder Club to collaborate outside the box and pursue the case. 1st to Die is the start of a new series of crime thrillers from James Patterson.

    Chuck says: "Skip the Prologue"
"It was fun but didn't leave a lasting impression.."

The plot twists were phenomenal! The story didn't flow though, almost as though the author was trying force his plot into his preconceived notion of its interaction with the "murder club". It almost worked but not quite... That being said, it is worth a listen.

  • Patient Zero: The Joe Ledger Novels, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 45 mins)
    • By Jonathan Maberry
    • Narrated By Ray Porter
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week there’s either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills - and there’s nothing wrong with Joe Ledger’s skills. And that’s both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because he’s a Baltimore detective who has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new task force created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can’t handle....

Kim Venatries says: "Yes! It IS that good. Five stars and more."
    "It was just plain fun..."

I'm not into Zombie/Monster books...This book never really felt like one. It was a fun listen. The character development was excellent. Ray Porter did a very nice job with character voices.

  • The Art of Racing in the Rain

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By Garth Stein
    • Narrated By Christopher Evan Welch
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why we think it’s a great listen: If you’ve ever loved a dog - or even patted a dog - this book, told from the perspective of man’s best friend, will tug at your heartstrings...and won’t let go until long after Welch performs the last word. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively and by listening very closely to the words of his master.

Lora says: "Enzo (because he's so wize) for president."
    "A Wonderful Surprise."

I had no Idea what to expect when I downloaded this book. I'd heard a snippet of an interview of the author on the radio and thought it might be an interesting story. I was blown away. It touched every emotion. I could not stop listening!

  • By Order of the President: A Presidential Agent Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (20 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By W. E. B. Griffin
    • Narrated By Dick Hill
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Two armed men board a 727 that has been all but forgotten at an airfield in Angola. Hijacking the jet, they then slit the throat of the lone crew and fly to parts unknown. The consternation is immediate, as the CIA, FBI, and other agencies race to find out what happened, in the process elbowing one another in the sides a little too vigorously. Fed up, the president of the United States turns to an outside investigator to determine the truth.

Wayne says: "Dick Hill is the right reader; interesting story"
"Finally, Good to meet W.E.B. Griffin"

I've seen this author around for years and never "read" any of his books. I have some catching to do! Great chararacters, nice story...It seemed to flow well, and was not predictable, so it kept me doing the virtual page flip. ...May have to upgrade my membership to get more credits each month.

  • Debt of Honor: A Jack Ryan Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (36 hrs and 8 mins)
    • By Tom Clancy
    • Narrated By John MacDonald

Clancy plunges hero Jack Ryan into nonstop high adventure, as two seemingly unrelated occurrences being a chain of events that will stun the world. Called out of retirement to serve as National Security Advisor to the president, Ryan, with the help of CIA officers John Clark and Domingo Chavez, must prepare the untested president to meet the challenges of a new world order.

Louann says: "Narrator not so great"
"Fun to hear one I'd read..."

I read this book when it was first published. It was a great read and it was an even better listen. John MacDonald did a nice job. Some of his voices ran together somewhat. As far as Clancy...I wanna be him when I grow up! I love his stuff. The man can tell a story and make every detail...And there are a LOT of details...Fun to roll around in.

  • The Unsung Hero: Troubleshooters, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Suzanne Brockmann
    • Narrated By William Dufris
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

After a near-fatal head injury, Navy SEAL lieutenant Tom Paoletti catches a terrifying glimpse of an international terrorist in his New England hometown. When he calls for help, the Navy dismisses the danger as injury-induced imaginings. In a desperate effort to prevent disaster, Tom creates his own makeshift counterterrorist team, assembling his most loyal officers, two elderly war veterans, a couple of misfit teenagers, and Dr. Kelly Ashton - the sweet girl next door who has grown into a remarkable woman.

Luv2Read says: "Romance novel disguised as a thriller"
    "So unbelievable it hurt..."

I got this book because of the description that they had on Audible. It was nothing like the description. Any Navy Seal that put finding a terrorist in 2nd place to finding his feelings would be drummed out of the service...This was so unbelievable, it hurt. It's too bad because it had potential...

  • Dead or Alive

    • UNABRIDGED (20 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Tom Clancy, Grant Blackwood
    • Narrated By Lou Diamond Phillips

Jack Ryan, the former president of the United States, is out of office, but not out of the loop about his brainchild, the “Campus” - a highly effective, counter-terrorism organization that operates outside the Washington hierarchy. But what Ryan doesn’t know is that his son, Jack Ryan, Jr., has joined his cousins, Brian and Dominic Caruso, at the shadowy Campus. While a highly effective analyst, young Ryan hungers for the action of a field agent.

Robert B. Wales says: "Same great Clancey - Great narration"
    "Wonderful, technical, thrilling yarn..."

It's Clancy, so it is technically thorough and accurate. My favorite thing about this book was the narration. Lou Diamond Phillips did a spectacular job. He addressed each character, individually. His pace was great...Which leant itself to a stellar, action packed ride. I hope this team happens again and again.
