  • The Price of Politics

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 44 mins)
    • By Bob Woodward
    • Narrated By Boyd Gaines
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Based on 18 months of reporting, Woodward's 17th book The Price of Politics is an intimate, documented examination of how President Obama and the highest profile Republican and Democratic leaders in the United States Congress attempted to restore the American economy and improve the federal government's fiscal condition over three and one half years. The Price of Politics addresses the key issue of the presidential and congressional campaigns: the condition of the American economy.

"Bi-Partisan view of politics from the inside"

I really enjoyed this book. This is written as an admitted Politics nerd. I really enjoy getting a behind the scenes look on how things actually get done in politics. I admittedly lean left in my political ideology, however, i think this book was fairly critical of the president when need be and also critical of congress and Republicans when necessary. Bob Woodward put the current political landscape of our country on full display, and did so in a way that simply stated facts and the opinions of both sides letting the reader decide how they feel.

If you are looking at this book then it means politics is something that interest you. Therefore, this would be a very good book to pick up and listen too. The narration is good and adds as to the story allowing the reader to instantly be able to tell who is speaking even before their name is read. You almost feel as if you are in the room when these discussion are happening. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and highly recommend it.

  • Intertwined

With no other family and a life spent in and out of institutions, Aden and the souls have become friends. But now they're causing him all kinds of trouble. Like, he'll blink and suddenly he's a younger Aden, reliving the past. One wrong move, and he'll change the future. Or he'll walk past a total stranger and know how and when she's going to die. He's so over it. All he wants is peace. And then he meets a girl who quiets the voices. Well, as long as he's near her. Why? Mary Ann Gray is his total opposite.

    "Interesting story and concept"

If you like books along the lines of hounded or Twilight then this is a great series to get into. After finishing this book, I immediately downloaded the second. I am a person that like the twilight serious even though being inside the head of a teenage girl got very annoying at times. Intertwined has some of those concepts and moments but its not as over done and usually seems a bit more realistic. The fact that its a teenage boy helps alot as well. (from a guy's perspective anyway). The premise of the book is unique even though it uses many of the same ficitional beings (i.e. vampires, werewolves) however, it includes many more and it is very interesting the feuds and interactions between each of the beings. The story has many layers and that keeps the reader from getting bored.

The narrator is pretty good as well. She covers alot of different voices and they are pretty distinguishable so you know who is speaking pretty quickly. The story has alot of twists and turns that keep you intrigued and wanting to hear more. There are some tedious times but as in most books its better if you over explain than not explain at all and leave the reader wandering what is going on. Overall this was a good book and I'm half way through the 2nd book Unraveled and its getting even better. I recommend that if you like this genre this book is worth a shot.
