Based on 18 months of reporting, Woodward's 17th book The Price of Politics is an intimate, documented examination of how President Obama and the highest profile Republican and Democratic leaders in the United States Congress attempted to restore the American economy and improve the federal government's fiscal condition over three and one half years. The Price of Politics addresses the key issue of the presidential and congressional campaigns: the condition of the American economy.

I really enjoyed this book. This is written as an admitted Politics nerd. I really enjoy getting a behind the scenes look on how things actually get done in politics. I admittedly lean left in my political ideology, however, i think this book was fairly critical of the president when need be and also critical of congress and Republicans when necessary. Bob Woodward put the current political landscape of our country on full display, and did so in a way that simply stated facts and the opinions of both sides letting the reader decide how they feel.

If you are looking at this book then it means politics is something that interest you. Therefore, this would be a very good book to pick up and listen too. The narration is good and adds as to the story allowing the reader to instantly be able to tell who is speaking even before their name is read. You almost feel as if you are in the room when these discussion are happening. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and highly recommend it.

When SEAL Team Six killed Osama bin Laden, they pulled a treasure trove of intelligence on planned attacks on U.S. soil. Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda's new leader, is activating his most trusted (and deadliest) terrorists to carry out his newest plot: to detonate a bomb inside one of the 64 commercial nuclear power plants in the U.S. in an attack 10 times worse than 9/11, causing radiological fallout that would kill hundreds of thousands of innocent Americans.

I am normally a fan of Stephen King ( My next purchase was another King novel) but this book to me just never drug me in quite the way that his others have. The story just seems to drag on and hint at alot but never really tell anything. Even in the end it just feels like nothing is every resolved and nothing every really happens. I will be the first to admit that there may have been something i missed or some nuance that I wasn't grasping. Normally i am very good at catching those and its the reason i seek intellectual books that don't just hit you over the head with the meanings but utilize subtlety. I should probably relisten to see if what i missed becomes more clear but i couldn't imagine another 13 hrs of that knowing how it ends.

The narrator definitely set the mood with his slow methodical and melancholly reading of the story. I can't say if he hurt or hurt the book because he defined it for me and in my head they were one in the same. He wasn't horrible to listen to but his voice could put you to sleep.

Overall not one of my favorites. King is usually excellent at telling long winding back stories that tie in perfectly to the story as a whole and all fit together (ex: The Stand). This one just seemed forced and unnecessary.

Robert McCall is a former covert operations officer for the CIA who tries to atone for past sins by offering, free of charge, his services as a troubleshooter (often literally), a protector, and an investigator. People in need find him through a newspaper ad: "Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer.” Aided by a group of sometimes-mysterious contacts (some of whom date back to his spying days), McCall traverses the streets of New York City, visiting justice upon those who prey upon the weak.

It was an entertaining read. Pretty straight forward shootem up. it has all the elements expected doesn't go to deep and most plot twists are straight forward. The main character is a bad ass and lives up to all that that entails. If you like the genre you won't regret getting this book, but if you like this genre with more of a cerebral edge then you will probably want to keep looking for something a little more engaging.

If you like books along the lines of hounded or Twilight then this is a great series to get into. After finishing this book, I immediately downloaded the second. I am a person that like the twilight serious even though being inside the head of a teenage girl got very annoying at times. Intertwined has some of those concepts and moments but its not as over done and usually seems a bit more realistic. The fact that its a teenage boy helps alot as well. (from a guy's perspective anyway). The premise of the book is unique even though it uses many of the same ficitional beings (i.e. vampires, werewolves) however, it includes many more and it is very interesting the feuds and interactions between each of the beings. The story has many layers and that keeps the reader from getting bored.

The narrator is pretty good as well. She covers alot of different voices and they are pretty distinguishable so you know who is speaking pretty quickly. The story has alot of twists and turns that keep you intrigued and wanting to hear more. There are some tedious times but as in most books its better if you over explain than not explain at all and leave the reader wandering what is going on. Overall this was a good book and I'm half way through the 2nd book Unraveled and its getting even better. I recommend that if you like this genre this book is worth a shot.
