In an Istanbul hotel, a deep source warns a CIA agent that Iran intends to kill a CIA station chief. Quickly, John Wells is called in to investigate, but before he can get far, the tip comes true. Which means that the next warning the source gives will be taken very seriously indeed. And it’s a big one. We’ve put a package on a ship from Dubai to the United States. A radioactive one. A bomb? Not yet. It’s a test run.

What disappointed you about The Counterfeit Agent?

When I read the reviews, I just thought the ending was poor. Instead you are cut off in the middle of the story. Maybe there is a follow up novel, I don't know. The publisher's summary gives no indication you are just getting part 1.

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Guidall is an excellent reader, though his gentle, caring voice is probably not the best one for an action spy novel.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Counterfeit Agent?

I felt I was reading an abridged novel. Some scenes just seemed to be missing. Towards the end, our hero is facing a gun battle with 3 men. In the next chapter, the bad guys are all dead, the hero has escaped back to the US and the evil female boss is mourning the loss of her team. She's wondering what to do next, and that's how the novel ends. ARGH!

  • Our Mathematical Universe: My Quest for the Ultimate Nature of Reality

Max Tegmark leads us on an astonishing journey through past, present and future, and through the physics, astronomy, and mathematics that are the foundation of his work, most particularly his hypothesis that our physical reality is a mathematical structure and his theory of the ultimate multiverse. In a dazzling combination of both popular and groundbreaking science, he not only helps us grasp his often mind-boggling theories, but he also shares with us some of the often surprising triumphs and disappointments that have shaped his life as a scientist.

Whether or not you believe the author's conclusions (he's not sure if he does so himself), you will be led on a road of exploration into the nature of the universe which will astonish you. The book is surprisingly easy to follow and immensely rewarding.

Striking beauty comes at a price. Rahab paid it when at the age of 15 she was sold into prostitution by the one man she loved and trusted—her father. With her keen mind and careful planning she turned heartache into success, achieving independence while still young. And she vowed never again to trust a man. Any man. God had other plans. Into the emotional turmoil of her world walked Salmone, a prominent leader of Judah, held in high esteem by all Israel.

This book is written for 16 year old girls who can't decide between a life devoted to God or boys. For those looking for a Harliquin Romance without the sex, this is for you.The story is absolutely predictable. It is writing, but not literature.

A Delicate Truth opens in 2008. A counter-terrorist operation, codenamed Wildlife, is being mounted on the British crown colony of Gibraltar. Its purpose: to capture and abduct a high-value jihadist arms buyer. Its authors: an ambitious Foreign Office Minister, a private defense contractor who is also his bosom friend, and a shady American CIA operative of the evangelical far right. So delicate is the operation that even the Minister’s personal private secretary, Toby Bell, is not cleared for it.

    A must listen

I have listened to several hundred audible books, and this narration is probably the best I've ever heard. The writing is very good, but Le Carre's reading brings an extra dimension. He captures the humour and pathos in his own writing in a way I couldn't imagine picking up if I were to just read the physical book. If you want to understand how well a story teller can master his art, listen to this book.
