Evolution is about to be kicked in the teeth by some very large feet. It started with a few missing hikers, a not uncommon occurrence for the remote town of Bonanza Creek. Now it's about to get a lot worse. The legendary creatures known as Sasquatch are emerging from the woods, and they're hell-bent on slaughtering everything in their path. The only ones standing in their way are a group of wayward campers, a few scared survivors, and the crew of a cable TV show.

What did you like best about Bigfoot Hunters? What did you like least?

The TV show guys were entertaining.

Would you recommend Bigfoot Hunters to your friends? Why or why not?

No. There's better books to listen to. For light hearted reading, I'd recommend the Bill series.

What does Charlie Romanelli bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He does good voices for sure.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Maybe.

Pi's fear, knowledge, and cunning keep him alive until they reach the coast of Mexico, where the tiger disappears into the jungle.

  • Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex

The study of sexual physiology has been a paying career or a diverting sideline for scientists as far-ranging as Leonardo da Vinci and James Watson. The research has taken place behind the closed doors of laboratories, brothels, MRI centers, pig farms, sex-toy R&D labs, and Alfred Kinsey's attic.

Mary Roach, "The funniest science writer in the country", devoted the past two years to stepping behind those doors. In Bonk, Roach shows us how and why sexual arousal and orgasm can be so hard to achieve and what science is doing to slowly make the bedroom a more satisfying place.

What did you love best about Bonk?

Such a well researched topic and made even more interesting through her storytelling.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mary herself and how she's not afraid to become a guinea pig to see the inside of the story.

Have you listened to any of Sandra Burr’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Not sure.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Science and sex, strange bedfellows.

Raymond Gunt likes to think of himself as a pretty decent guy - he believes in karma, and helping his fellow man, and all that other good stuff. Sure, he can be foulmouthed, occasionally misogynistic, and can just generally rub people the wrong way - through no fault of his own! So with all the positive energy he’s creating, it’s a little perplexing to consider the recent downward spiral his life has taken.… Could the universe be trying to tell him something?

Marci says: "Too silly, too simple, disappointing"

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    An entirely different book.

What was most disappointing about Douglas Coupland’s story?

Very quickly you get tired of listening to dumb things happen to a thoroughly pointless character. I didn't even bother to finish it.

What aspect of James Langton’s performance would you have changed?

    The reading was fine.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment then boredom. It's sort of like a car crash that you have no trouble looking away from.

    Any additional comments?

Hard to believe that the author who brought us Gen X, Microserfs and Shampoo Planet created this. Watching Simpson's reruns would be more intellectually stimulating.

What scientific concept would improve everybody's cognitive toolkit? This is the question John Brockman, publisher of Edge.org, posed to the world's most influential thinkers. Their visionary answers flow from the frontiers of psychology, philosophy, economics, physics, sociology, and more. Surprising and enlightening, these insights will revolutionize the way you think about yourself and the world.

Would you try another book from John Brockman and/or John Allen Nelson and Khristine Hvam ?

    Maybe

What could John Brockman have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The whole idea of "what will improve your cognitive toolbox" sounds like a good one but the pieces themselves are disjointed and wander around from topic to topic with no apparent connection. After a while it degrades into just another "this is what the future will bring" piece of fluff.

What about John Allen Nelson and Khristine Hvam ’s performance did you like?

The reading was fine and the use of more than one reader is good.

What character would you cut from This Will Make You Smarter?

    Most of them.
