Orphaned while onboard ship from Ireland, seven-year-old Lavinia arrives on the steps of a tobacco plantation where she is to live and work with the slaves of the kitchen house. Under the care of Belle, the master's illegitimate daughter, Lavinia becomes deeply bonded to her adopted family, though she is set apart from them by her white skin. "Heartbreaking Captivating"
    Overall

This story really brings home what it must have been like. Yes it could be depressing because it is human beings at their worst, but also their best. It was an engrossing recount of our lowest point so far but love also shone through. I could not stop listening. The readers were so captivating that i was living the book.

Birdie Cousins has thrown herself into the details of her daughter Chess's lavish wedding, from the floating dance floor in her Connecticut back yard to the color of the cocktail napkins. Like any mother of a bride-to-be, she is weathering the storms of excitement and chaos, tears and joy. But Birdie, a woman who prides herself on preparing for every possibility, could never have predicted the late-night phone call from Chess, abruptly announcing that she's cancelled her engagement.

    "annoying reader, boring story"
    Overall

sooo predictable and the reader is absolutely annoying. At first I thought if it were a different reader maybe it would be better, but probably not.

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

    "monotonous"
    Overall

Really disappointed. I can't listen to it anymore and i will download something else. The reader makes it all monotonous and the whole story is just creepy. Maybe it just isn't my genre.
