Ben Walsh is well on his way to becoming one of Manhattan's top litigators, with a gorgeous boyfriend and friends on the A-list. His life is perfect until he gets a phone call that brings it all crashing down: a car accident takes his parents, and now he must return to Austin to raise three teenage brothers he barely knows.

5 stars for Charlie David, but 3.5 stars for the story itself. This is a story of Ben, a stuck up NY attorney, and his journey of self-discovery and budding relationship with Travis, an auto mechanic with a heart of gold. The story is pretty predictable and the smex is good, but it just kind of plods along. It is a sweet story with some very poignant moments, but didn’t really “stick” with me as memorable. Ben is not really a likeable character, although I did like Travis quite a bit. There is a side story of Ben’s relationship with his brothers that I enjoyed. All in all, worth a credit for Charlie David’s narration.

Spencer is surprised when he's approached by the gorgeous construction worker he's admired from the safety of his office window. Acting spontaneously for the first time in his thirty-eight years, Spencer takes Emilio home. When the casual hookup turns into the potential for love, Spencer realizes that if he wants to build a life with Emilio, he'll need to be strong enough to slay his personal demons and learn to trust again.

3.5 rounded up. This was a sugar coma read. The good parts are that the narrator does a great job and II enjoyed Emilio and his family very much. I love strong supportive families in my mm romance. Also, we had both MCs POV, which was very good. The bad parts were that Spencer came off as kind of a wimp and in some instances TSTL. This is an instalove situation, no angst, no drama, just sweet romance. The backstory is told to the reader, so there is a very superficial "struggle with the past" element woven in, but it has a quick resolution. And there is an ex boyfriend conflict that is also pretty weak. Overall the net effect is a nice comfort read that is enjoyable but forgettable.

For Tommy Bradley, a hand working on the Lost Cow Ranch in rural Texas, admitting his sexuality is impossible, even if his bosses, Luke and Simon, are gay - Tommy has spent his entire life hiding the truth from his homophobic parents. Then Tommy meets pastor Noah Taylor in Luke's father's hospital room, and his difficult secret becomes that much harder to keep. Noah is unlike any man of God - or any man - Tommy's ever met. For one thing, his congregation is made up primarily of GLBT individuals and their families.

I really enjoyed this 2nd installment of the Morning Report series. Noah and Tommy are adorable. It nice seeing Luke and Simon again as well as the other supporting characters. The couple gets together pretty early on so most of the book is about Tommy coming out, their day to day lives, the homophobic pastor and other town bigots continuing to make trouble for the couple and the ranch. Luke and Simon have some drama, which is continued in a short story called Luke's Present. Overall, worth a credit and I look forward to the next book in audio.

Ingram is a coward and weakling - at least according to his father, the king, and the royal court. He cannot use a sword, he faints at the sight of blood, and even his brilliant abilities as a strategist are not enough to overcome his failings. When his father loses a bet to the notorious Lord Mallory over the matter of a dragon slaying, he pays his debt by ordering Ingram to marry him. Then his father reveals that he is putting Ingram to a greater purpose, giving Ingram one last chance to prove he is not worthless. All it requires is betraying his new husband.

This is a repost of a review which was deleted by Audible due to some technical issues with the book.

I really enjoyed this book. Paul Morey does a fabulous job. This story is good mm romance with a lot of adventure. There was basic world building, but enough to intrigue. However, the ending leads me to believe there is a sequel as major plot lines were unresolved. I hope so. I highly recommend listening to the audio version of this book.

When Prince Leon disappears and his people are unable to find him, they turn to the dragons for help. Nyle is the unlucky dragon tasked with finding the missing prince, a duty he dreads as it forces him into the confounding human world and away from his collection of pretties. Locating a missing prince should be a simple matter, but if Nyle has learned anything about humans since being forced out among them it's that they needlessly complicate everything.

This is a repost of a review that was deleted by Audible b/c of some technical issue with the book. By this time I have listened to all four books in the series. This was my original review:

This was a solid 3.5 listen, but only b/c the narrator does a great job. The story is just OK. Without the narrator I would not have liked this book. It reads like a fairytale and is not well written. There is no depth to the MCs, but it is a sweet, short story, so take it for what it is. I probably won't continue the series though.

Epilogue: So I have listened to all four books now and I have to say I really enjoyed the series. Listening to the first book helps a lot with the rest of the series as these characters are recurring throughout. Still is a fairy tale and the narrator still does a great job:

Solid 3.5 read. Paul Morey did a great job. This is a sweet and fluffy read with some very humorous geek lore woven in. But to my surprise I found out I am an old school geek when I could only identify with half of geekdom. Didn't know about "steampunk" or the computer geek lore, but I was all over the Star Trek vs Star Wars debate. But I digress. Not a lot happens here but the romance between Fee and Ash is very sweet but pretty predictable.

Dirk Krause is an asshole of the first degree. His life is a hell of his own making, and he makes everyone around him just as miserable. When he's injured on the job while fighting a fire, he's nearly unbearable to the hospital staff, and of course no one from his unit cares enough to visit. Lee Stockton is the new guy at the station, so he gets saddled with the job of bringing Dirk a sympathy bouquet from the guys at the firehouse. To Dirk's surprise, Lee sees through him like a pane of glass and doesn't take any of his crap.

This wasn't bad and it wasn't anything special. The narrator does a great job but the story is weak. I don't know why I keep expecting anything different from an author that seems to turn stories out like McDonalds does hamburgers and they are all variations of the same story. The story is too short to really be too detail, but it is what it is and I'm a sucker for hot fireman. Not worth a credit, but maybe a sale.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Paul Auster doesn't. Paul doesn't believe in much at all. He's thirty, slightly overweight, and his best features are his acerbic wit and the color commentary he provides as life passes him by. His closest friends are a two-legged dog named Wheels and a quasibipolar drag queen named Helena Handbasket. He works a dead-end job in a soul-sucking cubicle, and if his grandmother's homophobic parrot insults him one more time, Paul is going to wring its stupid neck.

This is a VERY funny M/M romcom listen from TJ Klune. The narrator was perfect and really brought all the characters to life, especially the MCs. He was fabulous!! My only warning is you will laugh out loud at this book, so be warned if you happen to be in public at the time. Also, I truly hope there is a sequel on the way and they can get this same narrator. There is a weird production error between chapters where there is a 7 - 12 sec pause and you feel like the narration stopped; it didn't, just a long pause between chapters. Other than that, this was a great listen. Definitely worth a credit.

I think this was my favorite of the series so far, although I did really like the 1st book, Inherit the Sky. All the previous couples make an appearance in this book, but this book is much darker than the previous books. The author delves into some abuse and PTSD issues and I think handles them very well. The narrator continues to do a great job and I hope there is another sequel soon. Although this book is part of the series, I'd say you have to read the 1st book, but not book 2 or 3 to enjoy this one. I liked all the books and each couple kind of stands on their own, but Caine and Macklin are in all the books. Worth a credit.

This is the 3rd book of the series. However, I read the first book (Cop Out) and I think this book is really the sequel to the first book as it involves Kurt's brother Ian, who makes appearances in Cop Out. I haven't read the 2nd book, but reading the 1st helps with this one. Now the review. I really enjoyed this book and Tristan James as the narrator is just wonderful. Since this also involves a big Irish family, his wonderful brogue makes an appearance. I also like that we get both MCs POV. The relationship between Ian and Rick is a complicated one because of Rick's past. The blurb implies that Ian's "coming out" is a big part of the story, but it really isn't. It is primarily a story of Rick overcoming the "rules" he has imposed on all his relationships and taking a chance with Ian. And the author does a cute little twist at the end so it is not totally predictable. I connected with both MCs and enjoyed their journey to finding love. Worth a credit.

Over a century ago Illusionist David Berkeley committed suicide in his mansion by the sea, thus dooming his restless spirit to wander forever. Or so the local legend goes. Professor Rhys Davies, a part-time parapsychologist, is writing a book on California hauntings and he believes the crumbling ruins of Berkeley House will make a terrific chapter -- if he can gain access to the house and grounds. The only obstacle is brooding cop and self-appointed caretaker, Sam Devlin.

Another winner by Josh Lanyon and Kevin Free. This is a wonderful, spooky short story with a HFN romance. I listened to it in one sitting and was enthralled the whole time. The only bad thing is that it wasn't longer. I would love a sequel as it ends on a twilight zone type ending. Worth a credit.
