This is a collection of the first three I Spy novellas. It was really a pleasure. The narrator was great as well as the stories;but be warned they are short. I'm glad Mr. Lanyon put them in one collection, otherwise it would not be worth a credit.. The romance between Mark and Stephen was sweet and they have some adventures, but it is mostly about them rekindling their relationship after a two year absence by Mark. I really liked that Mark (the younger of the two) actively pursues Stephen (who is 50). In the age of youth, it was a very pleasant change. I look forward to a continuation of the series, although I will buy as this type of anthology due to the length of the stories. As a anthology, worth a credit.
This was a wonderful short story from the author of Something Like Summer. Kevin Free is the perfect narrator for this little story of "be careful what you wish for" romance. Not worth a credit because it is so short, but worth a sale.
Well Mr. Lanyon does it again. This is a wonderful mystery/romance told by the perfect narrator for the 1930's noir-like style of storytelling. There is a slow build up of the romance while trying to solve the mystery of who stole a valuable copy of The Tempest (thus the title). He throws in lots of red herrings and action; but, for me, the mystery is really secondary to the MCs journey of self discovery. It all blends together for a truly wonderful listen. Definitely worth a credit.
3.5 rounded up. This was a sugar coma read. The good parts are that the narrator does a great job and II enjoyed Emilio and his family very much. I love strong supportive families in my mm romance. Also, we had both MCs POV, which was very good. The bad parts were that Spencer came off as kind of a wimp and in some instances TSTL. This is an instalove situation, no angst, no drama, just sweet romance. The backstory is told to the reader, so there is a very superficial "struggle with the past" element woven in, but it has a quick resolution. And there is an ex boyfriend conflict that is also pretty weak. Overall the net effect is a nice comfort read that is enjoyable but forgettable.
I really enjoyed this 2nd installment of the Morning Report series. Noah and Tommy are adorable. It nice seeing Luke and Simon again as well as the other supporting characters. The couple gets together pretty early on so most of the book is about Tommy coming out, their day to day lives, the homophobic pastor and other town bigots continuing to make trouble for the couple and the ranch. Luke and Simon have some drama, which is continued in a short story called Luke's Present. Overall, worth a credit and I look forward to the next book in audio.
This is a repost of a review which was deleted by Audible due to some technical issues with the book.
I really enjoyed this book. Paul Morey does a fabulous job. This story is good mm romance with a lot of adventure. There was basic world building, but enough to intrigue. However, the ending leads me to believe there is a sequel as major plot lines were unresolved. I hope so. I highly recommend listening to the audio version of this book.
This is a repost of a review that was deleted by Audible b/c of some technical issue with the book. By this time I have listened to all four books in the series. This was my original review:
This was a solid 3.5 listen, but only b/c the narrator does a great job. The story is just OK. Without the narrator I would not have liked this book. It reads like a fairytale and is not well written. There is no depth to the MCs, but it is a sweet, short story, so take it for what it is. I probably won't continue the series though.
Epilogue: So I have listened to all four books now and I have to say I really enjoyed the series. Listening to the first book helps a lot with the rest of the series as these characters are recurring throughout. Still is a fairy tale and the narrator still does a great job:
Solid 3.5 read. Paul Morey did a great job. This is a sweet and fluffy read with some very humorous geek lore woven in. But to my surprise I found out I am an old school geek when I could only identify with half of geekdom. Didn't know about "steampunk" or the computer geek lore, but I was all over the Star Trek vs Star Wars debate. But I digress. Not a lot happens here but the romance between Fee and Ash is very sweet but pretty predictable.
This wasn't bad and it wasn't anything special. The narrator does a great job but the story is weak. I don't know why I keep expecting anything different from an author that seems to turn stories out like McDonalds does hamburgers and they are all variations of the same story. The story is too short to really be too detail, but it is what it is and I'm a sucker for hot fireman. Not worth a credit, but maybe a sale.
This is a VERY funny M/M romcom listen from TJ Klune. The narrator was perfect and really brought all the characters to life, especially the MCs. He was fabulous!! My only warning is you will laugh out loud at this book, so be warned if you happen to be in public at the time. Also, I truly hope there is a sequel on the way and they can get this same narrator. There is a weird production error between chapters where there is a 7 - 12 sec pause and you feel like the narration stopped; it didn't, just a long pause between chapters. Other than that, this was a great listen. Definitely worth a credit.
I think this was my favorite of the series so far, although I did really like the 1st book, Inherit the Sky. All the previous couples make an appearance in this book, but this book is much darker than the previous books. The author delves into some abuse and PTSD issues and I think handles them very well. The narrator continues to do a great job and I hope there is another sequel soon. Although this book is part of the series, I'd say you have to read the 1st book, but not book 2 or 3 to enjoy this one. I liked all the books and each couple kind of stands on their own, but Caine and Macklin are in all the books. Worth a credit.
