Holden Worthington's globetrotting days are over. Once the host of a popular adventure show, he hasn't ventured past his own front door in more than a year. Then the arrival of a sexy new gardener sparks something Holden hasn't felt in a very long time - an interest in the world outside his window. Holden tries to resist the attraction. But painfully shy yet definitely interested Adam Morgan has Holden longing to conquer his debilitating anxiety and live again. After a grisly discovery on the grounds of the estate, the town of Smithfield turns a suspicious eye on the reclusive Holden - and the two men must trust in each other to bring the truth out in the open.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The interpretation of Holden as Paul Lynde. I can understand why the narrator went this way, because the book really has great snarky dialogue. But as much as I like Paul Lynde, it is NOT sexy to hear the romance part of the book with his voice. It is really annoying after a while.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It wasn't really that interesting. The story and romance is really pretty lame. The best thing about the book is the comedy, it is really funny. I would suggest listening to it as a funny read with a little romance.

What three words best describe Shannon Gunn’s voice?

Diversified. He did a great job with the different charaters, but I just didn't like Holden's.

Do you think Men of Smithfield: Adam and Holden needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, just let them be happy.

When physics grad student Fielding Monroe and skirt-chaser and football player Mick Colman become college housemates, they're both in for a whole new education. Mick looks out for the absent-minded genius, and he helps Fielding clean up his appearance and discover all the silly pleasures his strict upbringing as a child prodigy denied him. They become best friends. It's all well and good until they run into a cheerleader who calls Mick the “best kisser on campus”.

This is a really cute GFY short listen about a straight jock falling for a geek. It is really sweet and hot and the narrator does an amazing job. There is some angst on the jock side, but that is pretty much the whole story. It is really well done, but too short for a credit, but great at a discounted price.

When jackal shifter Quade Danas was banished from his pack for being gay, he spent years in the military escaping his father's prejudice before returning to civilian life as a bodyguard for Roman Howell, the teenage son of a very rich man. After Roman is in an accident that leaves him physically scarred and emotionally distant, Quade is the only one who can get through to him. As Roman becomes a man, he realizes what he wants - his bodyguard by his side and in his bed.

    Story

This is classic Mary Calmes. A shifter book with a sweet, engaging couple. Roman is a young, very rich man who was disfigured in a fire. Quade is a jackal shifter (think big Egyptian jackal, not small jackal) that was rejected by his family when he came out and has been Roman’s bodyguard for 10 years. When there is trouble in his old pack, he is called home to deal with it. The romance is great and there is a little angst and action, but pretty predictable HEA. That said, I hope there is a sequel as there were hints at future couples. The narrator is the great Tristan James, who could read the telephone book and I would listen to him. Worth a credit.

Adam (Win) Winchester is a county deputy and the cousin of one of the men killed in the incident that sent Sage to prison for almost a decade. While Win's uncles, Jim and Teddy, are determined to make Sage and the entire Redding family pay for their loss, Win just figures Sage has paid his dues and maybe needs a friend. Maybe he needs more than a friend. In fact, Win's counting on it.

    Story

This was a really nice surprise as I have never read any of this author's book, but I loved this one. This is the story of Sage, an ex con with self esteem issues, and Win/Adam, a deputy in a small town in Texas with a homophobic boss, who is also his Uncle. I have to say that Adam is my favorite in this story, he is just amazing. He is funny, strong and determined to fight for his man, who is being persecuted in the small town. There is lots of drama and a cast of great supportive family and friends. I had a smile on my face whenever Sage and Win interacted because I just loved them together. Their dialogue was witty and heartfelt. Sage just broke my heart some of the time with not seeing his self worth. The author also doesn't shy away from the harsh reality of life in prison and what it was like for Sage, who went in for 8 years at the age of 18 after being unjustly convicted. That part was hard to listen to, but important to the story.

The narrator does an amazing job. He really brings these characters to life. Totally worth a credit.

For some, love seems an impossible dream. Growing up gay in small-town Missouri, Jace Holden thought his chance would never come. When he meets Victor - a wild soul and fellow outsider - his chances of finding love go from bleak to a very uncertain, maybe. Bracing his heart, Jace chases after his desire, hoping for a warm hand to hold his tight.

I waited for months to get this book because I read the first two books in this series and knew what happens to Jase. But I finally got up the courage to listen to Jase's story. I'm really glad I did even though it broke my heart all over again, but it was closure for the Ben, Tim, Jase saga. It was kind of like the movie Apollo 13, even though I knew the space capsule ultimately gets back to earth, I was still captivated by the journey.

Jay Bell continues his theme of it is possible to love more than one person in a lifetime and still get a HEA. The only reason the story lost a star was I just really didn't like Victor. I know he was a major influence on why Jase turned out like he did and it was useful to understanding Jase, but I just hated him throughout the whole book.

The narrator continues to do an excellent job and was amazing. So worth a credit.

I loved this book when I read it and loved Tristan James narration even more. He has such a wonderful voice and really brings the MCs to life. This is the story of what happens after the HEA. An established couple with grown kids grow apart -- and this is the story of their self discovery in pure Mary Calmes fashion. Not a lot of surprises, just a very nice comfort read. Worth a credit.

    Story

If you are a wine lover, you might like this one more than I did. It is not a historic period piece like many of Mr. Lanyon's stories. It mostly takes place in a small southern town where a Master of Wine, MC1, travels to in search of some famous bottles of wine. While there, he discovers a body and a closeted private investigator, MC2. Murder mystery and romance ensues. It is pretty short, but as usual, Mr. Lanyon's brilliant narrator makes it all worthwhile. Where does he find these guys? I don't think I've ever listened to a Lanyon book with a bad narrator. Worth a credit.

    Story

I really enjoyed this mm romance based in the small NW town of Rock Bay. This is a great enemies to lover story that hit all the right cords with me. Tally was a bully in high school and tortured Lex. After losing everything and coming to terms with being gay, Tally returns to Rock Bay and meets Lex again. The story is a little angsty, but has a great supporting cast of characters including a kick ass supportive grandma. It takes various twists and turns to get to their HEA, some of which you might say "WTF?". But overall it is a great comfort read/listen as the narrator does an excellent job. It also introduces new characters that set up the next two books, which I will also get. Worth a credit.

Weber Yates's dreams of stardom are about to be reduced to a ranch hand’s job in Texas, and his one relationship is with a guy so far out of his league he might as well be on the moon. Or at least in San Francisco, where Weber stops to see him one last time before settling down to the humble, lonely life he figures a frog like him has coming.

I loved this book when I read it and K.C. Kelly really brought it too life. This is the story of a ongoing romance between a wandering, bull riding cowboy with no family and no home, but a heart of gold, and a San Francisco neurosurgeon that loves him unconditionally. The story is told from Weber's (cowboy) POV and is basically about his journey of self discovery. Not him struggling with being gay, but failing to see his own self worth. It is really beautiful and the narrator does an excellent job. Definitely worth a credit.

This is a great comfort read. This is the story of two men coming to terms with losing their sight in different ways. Josh lost his sight in an accident and with the help of two amazing friends, comes to a camp for the blind and meets Charlie, the camp director. Charlie's sight is deteriorating and he is faced with seeing (no pun intended) if he can practice what he preaches to his campers. Most of the book is really slow and sweet, but the last 25% is very emotional and the narrator does a great job conveying that emotion. He does a great job throughout the book, Worth a credit.

When Ray Sloane tires of the men in his usual club, he finds himself in the Pink Palm, an inauspiciously named spit-and-sawdust dive, not the sort of place an elementary school teacher and pastor's assistant should be seen in. On the other hand, Ray needs a fresh face. But what he gets is a closeted, desperately unhappy divorcé named Zeke. Losing his teaching job and his kids has left Zeke bitter and in denial about his sexuality, but Ray is determined to get under his skin.
