Based on four years of intensive primary document research, Lawrence in Arabiadefinitively overturns received wisdom on how the modern Middle East was formed. Sweeping in its action, keen in its portraiture, acid in its condemnation of the destruction wrought by European colonial plots, this is a book that brilliantly captures the way in which the folly of the past creates the anguish of the present.

Would you listen to Lawrence in Arabia again? Why?

Yes, and I have. So thankful for this epic story of a least likely world changer.

What did you like best about this story?

His life before becoming a legend and after. Could not accept and resolve his role in world history.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The beginning of the book with the relationship of Lawrence, Faisal, Germany, and the United States in the political fate of the Middle East.

    Any additional comments?

The movie is great, but only touched on his humanity and probable mental illness.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain old "human error" are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?"

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I don't know if the science is factual but I hope NASA reads this to get ideas.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mark of course. Largely a narrative. Very funny without being corny. What a story.

What about R. C. Bray’s performance did you like?

His voice seemed to fit the irrevrant, unpretentious character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, but I lost some sleep anticipating resolution or tragedy.

    Any additional comments?

Author must be a rocket scientist.
