What do you do when you are a nanny to an obscenely rich Park Avenue matron named X? Mrs. X refuses to do anything for herself, including cook, clean, or take care of her 4-year-old son. You are expected to do everything, including maintaining the mental health of said 4-year-old, even while Mrs. X decides that it is time for a divorce. You'll have to bear up under the strain with wit and panache, even as the boundaries between your working life and your so-called private life blur, merge, and disappear.

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. Each day, as I arrived at work, I could not wait for the end of the day so I could listen to this story some more! I started listening to audiobooks during Lent to help me overcome my impatience with other drivers ... and it works! Now, I don't care how long it takes me to get somewhere!

In the Nanny Diaries, it is amazing how wealthy people treat those they feel are "beneath" them. It is all too true, I'm sure. This is a very good listen and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

As a sniper with the elite Massachusetts State Police SWAT Team, Bobby Dodge saved a woman and her young son by shooting her armed husband. But vicious rumors begin to circulate the next morning when Bobby loses his gun and his privileges. It turns out the dead man was the son of a prominent Boston judge and had accused his wife of poisoning their son.

I have been a big fan of Lisa Gardner's and was so thrilled to see she had a new book out. Unfortunately, this book was not her best. I didn't care for the reader as he read too mechanically. The book just didn't have the twists, turns, and excitement of her previous books (i.e., The Survivor's Club, The Next Accident). It's an okay listen, but certainly not worthy of 5 stars.

The rapist left an indelible mark on their lives; now three women must live with the consequences of his violent brutality. But when he's murdered on his way to trial, the police investigation takes a scorching new focus. All three women had a reason to hate him. All three wanted him dead. But which one of them murdered him? Explosively plotted and unnervingly suspenseful, The Survivors Club sizzles from beginning to end.

    Overall

So far, I have really enjoyed all the books by Lisa Gardner. This book was really intriguing, with lots of twists and turns. To be one of several women who survives being a victim of violent attack by the same man is horrendous, but to fight back is even better! You go, girls! Lisa Gardner writes such compelling books. Be sure to check out all her books.

To know the Sweet Potato Queens is to love them, and if you haven't heard about them yet, you will. Their royal ringleader, Jill Conner Browne, introduces the Queens to the world with this sly, hilarious manifesto about love, life, men, and the importance of being prepared. I have listened to several of the Sweet Potato Queens books and I absolutely LOVE them! They make me laugh while driving, and I really don't care how long it takes me to get to work in downtown Dallas! Jill Conner Browne as the author is perfect ... she has the southern drawl that drags you in and keeps you laughing. The accent alone keeps me laughing. It is really unfortunate that you do not have all the fabulous recipes in print ..... (sigh). You will definitely have to go back to the books and listen to and write down the great recipes. Sweet Potato Queens know how to eat!

Anne Murphy is smart, gorgeous, and young, the red-headed rookie at the Philadelphia law firm of Rosato & Associates. She leaves town for Fourth of July weekend to prepare for a high-profile trial, but when she buys her morning newspaper, her own photo is plastered all over the front page. And the headline, "Lawyer Murdered", supposedly refers to her. Anne sets out to find her killer, playing dead in order to stay alive.

I loved this book! Very intriguing story, although a bit far-fetched on how real legal cases unfold. If you are even a little bit interested in the law, you will like this book. I liked the main character, the "bad guy", and the "good guys." I liked how the all woman law firm backed their associate and helped her in her time of need. I especially liked her "free thinking" and butt kicking in court. It was a very good listen/read, and I will definitely download more books by this author.

On September 11, 2001, Carmen bin Ladin heard the news that the Twin Towers had been struck. She instinctively knew that her brother-in-law was involved in these horrifying acts of terrorism, and her heart went out to America. She also knew that her life and the lives of her daughters would never be the same again.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. What a revealing book about the "nothingness" and forced subservience of women in the Middle East. For a country, in this day and age, to treat women as though they were not worthy of anything absolutely appalls me. I am so glad Carmen bin Laden and her daughters escaped such a horrible life.
