Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's testimony before the 9-11 Commission, presented March 23, 2004.

I was very pleased to find these hearings available on Audible. They are of vital interest to all who would like to see government operate in a more efficient, cooperative manner. The lag time between the time one administration leaves and the other truly takes power is too long.
Every person interviewed has something revealing to say. There is plenty of blame to go around-Clinton was weakened by his Oval Office escapades and Bush came into office distrusting info passed on by the Clintonites and ineffectively dealt with all warnings and alarms that were out there. Iraq was on the table from the time he came into office.

This is a fascinating listen intertwining the story of the Chicago World's Fair in the late 1800's with the tale of a mass murderer haunting the environs around the fair. I had hesitated getting this, thinking it might be dry and uninteresting since I live far from that area but it reads like a novel and a mystery and the narrator does a great job. I was drawn into the story almost immediately and was eager to listen whenever I could. Some of the facts about products developed and areas of the country affected by events of the fair were particularly interesting to learn.

  • Who Let the Dogs In?: Incredible Political Animals I Have Known

The dazzling, inimitable Molly Ivins is back with a new collection of withering and hilarious pieces on the worst politics has to offer. This audiobook features a rogue's gallery of politicians: everyone from George W. Bush and the Democratic presidential contenders to Arnold Schwarzenegger. This career retrospective contains Ivins's funniest, most outrageous (and outraged) work on "the best of the worst", in a volume sure to delight those on the left and infuriate the right.

I was reminded many, many times while reading this book of why I am voting like I will vote this fall. This book covers many of the political highlights and hijinks of the last couple of decades. Ivins is an admitted liberal who can look past the politics of an individual to their merits as a leader. Skewering Democrats and Republicans alike when they deserve it, her sharp commentary is right on target so many times. This is laugh out loud reading.
