Women in Love is widely regarded as D.H. Lawrence’s greatest novel. It continues where 'The Rainbow' left off with the third generation of Brangwens: Ursula Brangwen, now a teacher at Beldover, a mining town in the Midlands, and her sister Gudrun, who has returned from art school in London.

This is a great choice if you already know you're a fan of D.H. Lawrence; Maureen O'Brien is exceptional. I, however, am not a fan of D. H. Lawrence. Vehemently. This is an awful novel that's been too highly praised for too long simply because elitist turn of the century white dudes thought it was super deep. He uses the word 'inchoate' about ten times on one page and the whole thing is a catastrophe. Don't waste your money.

One of the masterpieces of English fiction, Daniel Deronda tells the intertwined stories of two characters as they each come to discover the truth of their natures. Gwendolen Harleth is the beautiful, high-spirited daughter of an impoverished upper-class family. Daniel Deronda, the adopted son of an aristocratic Englishman, is searching for his path in life.

This is a wonderful and interesting novel ruined by sloppy narration. The woman cannot even pronounce 'Mirah' correctly. Furthermore there is a nasal quality to her voice that makes it unpleasant to listen to, particularly for so many hours.

Young, impressionable Aubrey is fascinated by the enigmatic Lord Ruthven, and accompanies him on a tour to Europe. But Aubrey develops a growing distaste for Lord Ruthven’s sinister and grotesque conduct - especially as it concerns human blood. This novella, penned during that tempestuous night in Switzerland amongst such notables as Percy Shelley, Lord Byron, and Mary Shelley, served as the great inspiration for Bram Stoker to create Dracula.

I was a little worried before I downloaded this, since another reviewer had said the performance was terrible, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's appropriately dramatic in the right places and the perfect level of camp for this kind of story. Wonderful little story, good reading, and well worth a listen.
