The green and gold of France during a hot August is poignantly remembered by Cecil, the middle sister of a family of English children on holiday in the champagne country of the Marne. The sudden illness of their mother means the children are left to deal as best they can with the hostile, mysterious, but entrancing world of the Hotel des Oeillets.

Wonderful narration, but I felt like the story was missing a beginning and an end. Seems incomplete to me.

In Christopher Golden’s first horror novel in more than a decade - a work reminiscent of early Stephen King - Snowblind updates the ghost story for the modern age. The small New England town of Coventry had weathered 1,000 blizzards...but never one like this, where people wandered into the whiteout and vanished. Families were torn apart, and the town would never be the same. Now, as a new storm approaches 12 years later, the folks of Coventry are haunted by the memories of that dreadful blizzard and those who were lost in the snow.

What did you like best about this story?

I love ghost stories set in the dead of winter. Just a perfect setting for a scary story.

    Which scene was your favorite?

This story has a great crescendo.

    Any additional comments?

I think this would make a great movie. The narration was a bit overly intense, but not enough to distract me. Ghosts and monsters...a great combination wrapped up in a good exciting story.

What does Ron Silver bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ron Silver is the perfect narrator. He brings a cadence to the speech that I would not have heard in my own head if I read it myself. His narration added a depth to the story for sure.

    Any additional comments?

Not what I expected but an excellent story. It certainly grabbed my attention and kept me interested. Top notch narration. I certainly recommend this story to anyone looking for something different and absolutely thought provoking.

In this tantalizing tale of Victorian ghost stories and family secrets, timid, solitary librarian Gerard Freeman lives for just two things: his elusive pen pal Alice and a story he found hidden in his mother's drawer years ago. Written by his great-grandmother Viola, it hints at his mother's role in a sinister crime. As he discovers more of Viola's chilling tales, he realizes that they might hold the key to finding Alice and unveiling his family's mystery - or will they bring about his untimely death, as they seem to foretell?

"I've been single for my entire life. Not one boyfriend. Not one short-term dating situation. Not one person with whom I regularly hung out and kissed on the face." So begins Katie Heaney's memoir of her years spent looking for love, but never quite finding it. By age 25, equipped with a college degree, a load of friends, and a happy family life, she still has never had a boyfriend...and she's barely even been on a second date.

What made the experience of listening to Never Have I Ever the most enjoyable?

It was an entertaining, funny insight into the life and mind of the author

What was one of the most memorable moments of Never Have I Ever?

Loved her description of what middle school is like.

How could the performance have been better?

I wish that the narration would have been less choppy. I looked past the narration because I enjoyed the story. I'm afraid the narration will cause some to stop listening because they can't get past the odd cadence.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made be laugh. I'm impressed with the author's candor and willingness to share even, what she feels are the most embarrassing moments of her life

An ordinary parking lot in southern California. Christine Scavello and her six-year-old son are accosted by a strange old woman. "I know who you are," the woman snaps at the boy. "I know what you are." A scream, a threat - and then a grotesque act of violence. Suddenly Christine's pride and joy, her only son, is targeted by a group of religious fanatics. They've branded him the Antichrist. They want to kill him. And they are everywhere.

In general this is a good, typical Dan Koontz story.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

strange cadence in the narrators voice. Odd long pauses between dialog.

Christopher Snow is the best-known resident of 12,000-strong Moonlight Bay, California. This is because 28-year-old Chris has xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), a light-sensitivity so severe that he cannot leave his house in daylight, cannot enter a normally-lit room, cannot sit at a computer.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

    Yes, it's a great story.

    Any additional comments?

Although I loved the book, I was disappointed that it is only half of a story. Dean Koontz Usually at least has a resolution to the situation in each book even if he uses the same character in a new book...this one is "to be continued"

This epic tale sweeps across continents and time, hovers over a key era in American history, and deftly realizes the humanity of a whole cast of characters. Told through flashbacks and alternating points of view, The Last Crossing is about redemption, about seeking and finding, about human feelings and strengths, about personal honor, and about that moment in life when we must decide to cross over and surrender to love.

Would you listen to The Last Crossing again? Why?

no, I usually don't listen to any books more than one time

Who was your favorite character and why?

Custis Straw was my favorite character. He is a great flawed, sympathetic hero and well defined.

What about the narrators???s performance did you like?

Using different narrators for the different characters really helped illustrate the story keep the characters clear in my mind

If you could rename The Last Crossing, what would you call it?

    no opinion here

    Any additional comments?

The very first part of the book was hard to get past, I stopped and started twice. Once I got past that section and the story picked up with the main characters, I was hooked. My MP3 player battery died on me several times because I was listening for hours.
