  • The Introvert Advantage: How to Thrive in an Extrovert World

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 25 mins)
    • By Marti Olsen Laney, PsyD
    • Narrated By Tamara Marston

The Introvert Advantage dispels common myths about introverts - they’re not necessarily shy, aloof, or antisocial - and explains how they are hardwired from birth to focus inward, so outside stimulation such as chitchat, phone calls, parties, or office meetings can easily become "too much". Most importantly, it thoroughly refutes many introverts’ belief that something is wrong with them. Instead, it helps them recognize their inner strengths - their analytical skills, ability to think outside the box, and strong powers of concentration.

Robert says: "Read the book Quiet instead"
"If you're an Introvert or not sure, you must read."
Would you listen to The Introvert Advantage again? Why?

I just started listening to the book again. So much information and I've learned so much about myself that I need to listen so that I can explore the reason for my low energy after a long day of meetings and technical support calls.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Introvert Advantage?

I will definitely be applying new and better ways to recharge between the the overload of support calls and meetings throughout the day.

    Any additional comments?

After getting an introduction to the Power of Introverts in "Quiet" by Susan Cain. I have read several books on the topic and this book offers the most comprehensive view on my varying levels of energy and the feeling/sound of static and overwhelming thoughts and ideas in my brain throughout the day.

  • Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Susan Cain
    • Narrated By Kathe Mazur
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

At least one-third of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking, reading to partying; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over brainstorming in teams. Although they are often labeled "quiet," it is to introverts that we owe many of the great contributions to society--from van Gogh’s sunflowers to the invention of the personal computer.

Teddy says: "Thought provoking and Uplifting.... A++++++++!!!!!"
"Paradigm shift that has changed my life."
What does Kathe Mazur bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Excellent read by narrator. Kept me listening for hours and hours.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The first chapter opened my eyes to what my issues have been all these years. Having a few friends, wanting to spend so much time alone and stressing over attending events with large crowds. I wish I had this book in my early adulthood so that I could understand my anxiety and stress that has affected so many of my choices.

    Any additional comments?

If you need an introduction to what an introvert is and what an introvert is not I would recommend reading. This book has taken me on the path of exploring additional titles on Introvert and the brain.
