In this deeply original book, science writer Anil Ananthaswamy sets out in search of the telescopes and detectors that promise to answer the biggest questions in modern cosmology. Why is the universe expanding at an ever faster rate? What is the nature of the "dark matter" that makes up almost a quarter of the universe? Why does the universe appear fine-tuned for life? Are there others besides our own?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

A fascinating concept with an incredible array of really good characters and Bo does this story pick you up and move.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Melanie is an old broad you will learn to both admire for her crazy like. Fox, daring without caring and I don't think I've ever met someone as self centered and delay duded in such a crazy, scarey and brutal way you can't help but both marvel and laugh. She is beyond amusing. So many characters who have a depth , if so someone told me I'd know this much about so many I would have said no thanks, but they come upon you or you them for a meaningful and interesting purpose...not hard to manage at all.

Have you listened to any of Mel Foster and Laural Merlington ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Great performances! I heard Melanie and the others this way in my head when I. Read the print version ages ago!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Sweeping beyond what you thought possible...riveting and great fun with characters you hate to love cause they are just that badly good.

Many consider Franklin the most fascinating American man who ever lived. A scientist, businessman, diplomat, author, inventor, philosopher and politician, he is America's original Renaissance man. His remarkable and varied accomplishments include the discovery of electricity and the modernization of the postal system. Brilliant and bawdy, a master statesman and a cultural icon, Franklin was so important and popular in his day that, according to the author, "... only Washington mattered as much."

William says: "History tends to bore but I couldnt stop listening"
"I'm jealous of his fascinating life"

What was one of the most memorable moments of The First American?

The fact that he was alive when real pirates like Blackbeard roamed the earth as well as at momentous times like the Declaration of Independence etc.

Would you consider the audio edition of Watchers to be better than the print version?

I love reading myself and listening when the narrator is at least as good as the voices I imagine. This reader is one voice but really good and appropriate to the story and characters

Who was your favorite character and why?

Each one is so well developed hard to choose but obviously Einstein seconded only by Travis and Nora with Nora edging out Others perhaps as she comes the farthest from start to finish more than I would have thought realistically possible. I LOVE the sense of human character growth from potential to 'reality' in a short period of time and without relying on torturing the character forever. This is very uplifting encouraging, a good example of not only what is ephemerally possible, but what is probable with choosing the right attitude!

Have you listened to any of J. Charles’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Not that I know of

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Skipped some 'adult parts when listening with kids but I felt very happy and at peace with the world and even joy for life and its mysteries seriously. Periodically was impressed and noticed how well written th s all while being gripped by the story very coo!

The China Study offers conclusive evidence that a change of diet can dramatically reduce the risks of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. The book is based on the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted, a 20-year joint project between Cornell University, Oxford University, and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine. The study surveyed the eating habits of 6,500 adults from all over China and Taiwan and found a direct correlation between diet and disease.

What made the experience of listening to The China Study the most enjoyable?

This strikes the perfect balance of information presented in an engaging style. Very enlightening but at the same time stirs frustration and great caution while providing great clarity. If you want to know what happens behind closed doors in health care and the agencies that we have created to protect and serve us in this regard this is a sobreing dose of reality with a reminder to stay vigilant for yourself and beyond all the science, think for yourself and always check any perspective against basic 'farmers arithmatic' and if it doesn't seem to add up - regardless of the claims of the 'expert' keep asking questions until your satisfied you understand then trust your own common sense.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The deepth to which intellectual arrogance can consume those that are well educated and either blind them to their own faillings or lead them to lies and subtrofuge.

    Any additional comments?

The only thing that can change a simple basic fact is context - open books with an open mind and go from there - this is an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to find a cure for what ails most of us.
