  • President Me: The America That's in My Head

In President Me, Carolla shares his vision for a different, better America free from big issues like big government down to small problems like hotel alarm clock placement. Running on an anti-narcissism platform, President Carolla calls for a return to the values of an earlier time when stew and casserole were on every dinner table and there were no “service dogs” on airplanes. President Me hits right at the heart of what makes our country really annoying, and offers a plan to make all of our lives, but mostly Adam’s, much better.

Would you listen to President Me again? Why?

Yes, Corolla delivers an excellent performance (always love when authors narrate their own books). This book is a nice length (6 hours) and feels like a lengthly one of Corolla's podcasts. He reads the book, gets passionate about the topic, and starts ranting a bit outside of the actual text.

What does Adam Carolla bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Since Corolla is reading his own book, he gets to add in whatever he wants as he's reading. He'll laugh, sigh, yell, and really add emotion to what he's reading.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This book is perfect for one sitting or as many shorter sittings as you'd like.

    Any additional comments?

Corolla gets a little preachy and off topic in some chapters, but overall he delivers an excellent performance and makes me wish he'd actually run for president.

Why the gold standard is due for a comeback A reserve currency can only function as such if there is a general consensus that it provides a stable store of value. Without this trust, money, no matter what form it takes, will be abandonedeither suddenly in a crisis, or gradually over timein favor of something else.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

This is the first Audiobook I have come across where the narrator makes many mistakes. I have listened to over three dozen audiobooks and I have never heard a narrator make one mistake before. In this audiobook they do not edit out the mistakes. Instead the narrator says sorry and apologizes and coughs and makes other distracting noises throughout.

Based on more than 40 interviews with Jobs conducted over two years—as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues—Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.

Where does Steve Jobs rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is my favorite audiobook to date. I absolutely love the Steve Jobs bio done by Isaacson and I thought the narrator did a fantastic job bringing the story to life.

Hundreds of books have been written about the financial crisis that engulfed the world after Lehman Brothers went bankrupt. But what if the bigger financial crisis is ahead of us, not behind us?As John Mauldin and Jonathan Tepper deftly illustrate in this controversial audio book, the crisis was more than a half-century in the making. The Great Financial Crisis, however, was merely Act I.

If you could sum up Endgame in three words, what would they be?

I was rivetted by this book from start to finish. This is a must read/listen for anyone who wants to understand the global financial crisis that occured in 2008/2009 and the impending crises that will come in the near future. The financial outlook for every country is bleak and it is important for every well educated citizen to understand this.
