In Broken Harbor, all but one member of the Spain family lies dead, and it’s up to Mick “Scorcher” Kennedy to find out why. Mick must piece together why their house is full of cameras pointed at holes in the walls and how a nighttime intruder bypassed all the locks. Meanwhile, the town of Broken Harbor holds something else for Mick: disturbing memories of a childhood summer gone terribly wrong.

Very clever, interesting and exciting. A mystery/thriller for the mind not full of gun fights or car chases but lots of figuring stuff out and investigating. Sorry I am a reader, not a writer so my review may not be that elegant but this is a seriously good book.

While Bernie continues his struggle to pay the bills, Chet - with his sharp nose and even sharper teeth - keeps bringing down the perps. Told from Chet's perspective and featuring the humorous ramblings of a dog, Thereby Hangs a Tail is another winner.

In this, their first adventure, Chet and Bernie investigate the disappearance of Madison, a teenage girl who may or may not have been kidnapped, but who has definitely gotten mixed up with some very unsavory characters.

    Story

I just love these books, Chet reminds me of every dog I have ever known. Or what I image they are like. The story is in the first person from the dog, Chets point of view. His partner, Bernie is a private investigator. I say partner because that is what Chet calls himself, and Bernie really does bring chet along during all his adventures. It is hard to discribe why these books are so charming and funny. Chet is just a great character, but he is a dog... so something important might be going on and Chet might get distracted by an old french fry lying on the floor.

Ok- don't let my not so well written review deter you from this book, it is a true original and worth your credit.

In July 1890, Vincent van Gogh went into a cornfield and shot himself. Or did he? Why would an artist at the height of his creative powers attempt to take his life... and then walk a mile to a doctor's house for help? Who was the crooked little "color man" Vincent had claimed was stalking him across France? And why had the painter recently become deathly afraid of a certain shade of blue? These are just a few of the questions confronting Vincent's friends who vow to discover the truth of van Gogh's untimely death.

The artifact is found seven miles below the surface of the sea and beneath 40 more feet of sand. The Navy's efforts to raise a wrecked submarine uncover it - and set in motion a scientific race to retrieve it, to discover just what it is and where it came from. Denser than any substance known to man, it has broken every drill bit they've tried on it and will not budge an inch. It resists every effort to breach it - or communicate with it.

What did you like best about Camouflage? What did you like least?

It started out as very interesting and then just turned into a romance novel. It doesn't qualify as a science fiction or a romance. It just was a washed out version of both. I did finish it, and didn't feel like it was a waste but not my type of book. Too light...

Would you recommend Camouflage to your friends? Why or why not?

I would not recommend it to any serious SyFi fans or any romance fan.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

    the performance was very good.

Summer 1924: On the eve of a glittering Society party, by the lake of a grand English country house, a young poet takes his life. The only witnesses, sisters Hannah and Emmeline Hartford, will never speak to each other again....Winter 1999: Grace Bradley, 98, one-time housemaid of Riverton Manor, is visited by a young director making a film about the poet's suicide. Ghosts awaken, and memories, long consigned to the dark reaches of Grace's mind, begin to sneak back through the cracks.

I didn't get too emotionally envolved, though...I liked the point of view of the servant. It didn't blow my mind but I didn't feel like I wasted my time.

One of America’s most popular authors, Jodi Picoult has earned a reputation for crafting riveting, topical fiction. In House Rules she examines how being different can have dire consequences. Teenager Jacob Hunt has Asperger’s syndrome. A forensic science wizard, he follows his scanner to show up at crime scenes and give law enforcement officials his advice.

Charlotte says: "Great book until the ending"
    "Loved it...but..."
    Overall

It had so many similarities to "the curious incident of the dog in the night" but that book was so much better. Don't get me wrong I loved this book. It was a totally different story and very interesting with lots to info on Asperger's syndrome and all the character were super interesting. I was sad when the story ended...not just because it ended but also it ended very quickly with many questions.
