This classic expose of the Fed has become one of the best-selling books in its category of all time. Where does money come from? Where does it go? Who makes it? The money magician's secrets are unveiled. Here is a close look at their mirrors and smoke machines, the pulleys, cogs, and wheels that create the grand illusion called money. A boring subject? Just wait. You'll be hooked in five minutes. It reads like a detective story - which it really is, but it's all true.

The first of this book is history and therefore gets bogged down a little because of the facts that are necessary to some but not others (the reason for only 4 stars on story). I do not fault him for the details....it was just a little over my economic intellect sometimes. The reader was good enough to pull me through the doldrums. But stay with it. Wait for it. The last 3 and a half hours is pure genius that I was not expecting! Griffin succinctly and factually frames the thoughts about the Federal Reserve that I have been accumulating for years. Then he gives reasons and details that support my same theory that there is a collapse coming. He even offers solutions that COULD work and which would turn our economic death into just a hangover. BUT....(Because we have dishonest men running the country, and because the "electorate is unaware of what's being done to them and therefore unable to do anything about it"..... I believe it's never going to happen! Of course he chides me for this apathy....but I likewise chide him for his surrealism. Should be required reading for every economic student....and you, too! I rarely take the time to rate books....and when I do I rarely am this excited about giving such high marks. This is an A+ Be getting ready for the collapse!

Everyone knows confidence when they see it; but seemingly no one can actually describe what goes into it or how to get it. The Nerd's Guide to Being Confident is an unconventional way of looking at one of the most basic and obvious human traits and what one can do to gain a little more of it without feeling like a phony. Laughter included.

This guy is more self centered than a donut! Unnecessarily vulgar. He makes fun of Judaism and Christianity and it's single resurrection, but has no problem quoting from a religion that believes in multiple reincarnation. Full of cliches that are actually wrong e.g.; Buddhism..."whatever you resist will persist"....that's not true of bullies, fighting disease, many other things. The only reason I gave 2 stars is the last 3 minutes was very good where he illuminated how we all are not satisfied with what we have when he used a beach scene in Rio for the example.

Famed investigative journalist Eric Schlosser digs deep to uncover secrets about the management of America's nuclear arsenal. A groundbreaking account of accidents, near misses, extraordinary heroism, and technological breakthroughs, Command and Control explores the dilemma that has existed since the dawn of the nuclear age: How do you deploy weapons of mass destruction without being destroyed by them? That question has never been resolved - and Schlosser reveals how the combination of human fallibility and technological complexity still poses a grave risk to mankind.

This book is not a bomb! It is a book that I could not put down. I was a Nuclear weapons specialist in SAC at Ellsworth and believe everything written to be true. I was actually involved and knew of some "incidents" that went unreported as well. In fact, my 28MMS Commander was called to come out at 3am after we had an electrical fire on the tug pulling 4 nukes after an alert. We put the fire out and no harm done....fire department only blocks away were too afraid to come to the site and help....for 45 minutes. But the Colonel never said good job or thanks for saving the base.....he said "You two need a haircut....and keep this under your hat"! That kind of arrogance and non appreciation for what we had just done caused me to throw up my hands, turn myself in for drugs.....and get out of the USAF. Had drug testing been done, I'm sure 90% of my squadron would still be in jail.....the cops, too! In training another team dropped a bomb a few inches to its stand. We also had a tritium leak and an armed bomb on the flight line. The American people don't know the half. This book tells the best.

  • The Real Crash: America's Coming Bankruptcy - How to Save Yourself and Your Country

In The Real Crash, New York Times best-selling author Peter D. Schiff argues that America is enjoying a government-inflated bubble, one that reality will explode... with disastrous consequences for the economy and for each of us. Schiff demonstrates how the infusion of billions of dollars of stimulus money has only dug a deeper hole: The United States government simply spends too much and does not collect enough money to pay its debts, and in the end, Americans from all walks of life will face a crushing consequence.

Finally! I rarely write reviews but this one is well worth it. I have read many books on the economy and this is the most informative one of them all. Schiff, combines and defends all the pros of the Austrian economists and shows how the Marxist and Keynesians will fail. He, as far as I know, is the only one who swam against the stream and predicted the housing collapse with his logic. Now he is predicting a future government-fiat money collapse using the same reasoning. He also gives specific ideas on how to protect yourself. This may be the only author that I agree with 100 percent. The reader was perfect for the task. Excellent!

Brilliant detective work by a world hero. Daniel has found the real demons! As a studier of cults, I heard about and suspected this all along, but could not quite put my finger on it. He presents non refutable evidence. I don't know why American members have not been prosecuted for treason! Shame on Rockefeller, Kissinger, Brzezinski, Bush, Obama, Rice, the oil barons, the media and all of the others. Everyone should listen to this book. I'm going to buy the hard copy and pass it around. Thanks Daniel! ...and may God bless you and keep you alive!

This important and timely book delivers a startling analysis of the clash of faith and reason in today's world. Harris offers a vivid historical tour of mankind's willingness to suspend reason in favor of religious beliefs, even when those beliefs are used to justify harmful behavior and sometimes heinous crimes.

Sam has assembled a lot of facts dishonestly. He overlooks and downplays the dismal governments run by atheists: Mao, Hitler (a catholic? I don't think so), Pol Pot, and even the French Revolution that produced atheists whose fanaticism was to make their people a foot shorter at the neck. For an honest disambiguation read "How Christianity Changed the Modern World" by Alvin J. Schmidt. Or better, read them together 'just for balance',lets say, and the truth will come out.

From ancient Palestine through Europe and the Orient, to America and modern Israel, Max Dimont shows how the saga of the Jews is interwoven with the history of virtually every nation on earth. Brilliantly narrated in a thousand and one episodes, this newly revised and updated edition tells the story of a people escaping annihilation and cultural death, fighting, falling back, and advancing again.

In my opinion Dimont has written a historical account of the Jews that will never be surpassed in a single volume. Read well also, it is filled with factual as well as anecdotal quips that are hard found elsewhere. His 'facts' are not unsubstantiated like religious accounts from Karen Armstrong nor biased like those of Jimmy Carter. I like the overview read previous to the chapter as well. Read this, Josephus, O Jerusalem, and the Six Days of War, and you could teach Rabbi's!

One Navy admiral called it "one of the greatest unsolved sea mysteries of our era". To this day, the U.S. Navy officially describes it an inexplicable accident. For decades, the real story of the disaster has eluded journalists, historians, and the family members of the lost crew. But a small handful of Navy and government officials knew the truth from the very beginning: the sinking of the nuclear submarine U.S.S. Scorpion and its crew of 99 men, on May 22, 1968, was an act of war.

    Timothy says: "Excellent book"

More riveting than Clancy because it is true! It took an ex military journalist who is adept at sorting through SNAFU's to finally figure out the truth about the Scorpion. God bless those families who had to endure not knowing. A must read for military and CIA types. I would like to see this author tackle the lies behind nuclear cover-ups like Palomares, as well.
