    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

At the old family manse in Louisiana, Special Agent Pendergast is putting to rest long-ignored possessions reminiscent of his wife Helen's tragic death, only to make a stunning - and dreadful - discovery. But now, Pendergast learns that her rifle-her only protection from the beast-had been deliberately loaded with blanks. Who could have wanted Helen dead...and why?

    Snoodely says: "Intelligent, spooky thriller"
    "Super Human hero's investigations"

Well, after reading a few reviews about this book, i expected a lot more in this book. I am very very disappointed. The writers have not only created a superhuman hero who has all the tools and tricks at all times ready as if he knew it all beforehand but also a very unrealstically interwoven plot. I cant imagine a burnt down house that lies unattended for twelve years has still some papers aptly retreived by our super hero and reads them and finds clues out of it. And people not concerned with the story do remember clearly what happened 12 years ago. It sounds totally impractical and improbable.
I have learnt one thing though - not to give much weightage to the reviews while selecting my next book.

  • Critical Mass

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 28 mins)
    • By Whitley Strieber
    • Narrated By Paul Boehmer

In Critical Mass, Whitley Strieber explores this unthinkable but real possibility in a furious story that is almost too terrifying to tell. Nuclear interdiction expert James Deutsch and his Muslim wife, Nabila, struggle to stop an impending nuclear attack on a great American city. Along the way, they delve deep into the hidden world of nuclear terrorism and the experts who strive to contain it, and get a compelling look at the titanic battle within Islam over its own future.

"Typical script for an "Action" movie"

Well written, but lacking in a cohesive theme.

  • God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 51 mins)
    • By Christopher Hitchens
    • Narrated By Christopher Hitchens
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In the tradition of Bertrand Russell's Why I Am Not a Christian and Sam Harris' recent best-seller, The End of Faith, Christopher Hitchens makes the ultimate case against religion. With a close and erudite reading of the major religious texts, he documents the ways in which religion is a man-made wish, a cause of dangerous sexual repression, and a distortion of our origins in the cosmos.

ben capozzi says: "...Though Hitchens Is!"
    "Good book, badly read"

The book makes an interesting reading and is quite an eye opener. But unfortunately I could not enjoy listening to this because of poor quality of reading. Mr.Hichens should not have read this one himself. He tends to swallow the last part of most of the sentences. I have had to constantly lower / raise the volume of my instrument, even with in a sentence. This has really taken the pleasure of listening to an unnecessary low. I am sorry to say that this the worst listening experience I have had in Audible so far.

  • The Kite Runner

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 6 mins)
    • By Khaled Hosseini
    • Narrated By Khaled Hosseini

Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

    P. C..S. says: "A Worhty Read"
    "a well told story"

An excellent story, very vividly written and well narrated. I enjoyed it very much.
