I listen to many, and review very few, but I would feel guilty if I didn't warn you!
Without a doubt, the most tedious and depressing book I have ever listened to.
Being read by Sally Darling was this books only redeeming quality, but even she could not save it. I finished it, but it felt like a chore to do so, and I am so thankful it's over.
No spoiler alert, because there's nothing to spoil. Although the narrator was good, and the author writes well, the storyline itself was boring and simply dreadful .
All the way to the end, I wasn't sure I could finish it. It was like spending more than 10 hours listening to miserable people talk about how and why they are so miserable.
It was consistently unpleasant, and often mean. This book was worse than boring; it was possibly the least enjoyable story I've ever listened to.
Great story, woven with lots of historically accurate facts, and excellent narration.
This was my first Diane Chamberlain book, and I enjoyed it very much.
I want to preface this review with the fact that I just finished Necessary Lies (my first Diane Chamberlain book) and I enjoyed that one very much.
This book, however, was draining, and full of unlikable characters. Although it was fairly well narrated, and the story line was an interesting concept, I found myself checking the time left, and just wanting it to end.
Funny, serious, compelling, interesting, surprising, and witty...And SO well narrated.
Wonderful to discover a new (to me) author. Excited to start another Liane Moriarty novel ...REALLY enjoyed this one !
I've never seen the show, and I hear it is very different from the book, but I really really enjoyed this (based on truth) story. It's interesting, and entertaining. I enjoyed the characters , and I was never bored.
The last Robyn Carr book I read was Four Friends... this one is completely different, and not at all the typical storyline for R.C., but both were VERY good . Great character development, and both kept me interested from beginning to end
Nora Roberts books are hit and miss with me, and this one was a hit !
I think I have listened to everything Hilderbrand has ever written, and I am usually a big fan.
But, although the narration is very good, this story is just awful. I was very disappointed.
Excellent story, made even better by the readers. I appreciated the story (even if I related too well to parts), but the variety of narrators, made listening to the book even more enjoyable. I have read a couple other books by Heather Gudenkauf, but this was by far her best to date.
Well written, and we'll read, with good character development.
This was my first Robyn Carr novel, and I definitely enjoyed it.
