Rick Dockery was the third-string quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. In a championship game, to the surprise and dismay of everyone, Rick actually got into the game and then provided what was arguably the worst single performance in the history of the NFL. Overnight, he became a national laughingstock and, of course, was immediately cut by the Browns and shunned by all other teams. But against enormous odds, Arnie finally locates another team that will have him: the mighty Panthers of Parma, Italy.

I'm new to Audio books -- and since I really enjoy Grisham -- I thought I'd give this one a try. I was thoroughly entertained. Frankly, I hated to hear it come to an end. Grisham did a fine job of describing the local scene of Italy -- makes me want to visit.

I've read some criticism of this audio download -- fortunately we're all entitled to our opinion -- mine is as valuable as any -- they're all free!

Presumed Innocent brings to life our worst nightmare: that of an ordinary citizen facing conviction for the most terrible of crimes. Prosecutor Rusty Sabich is transformed from accuser to accused when he is handed an explosive case - that of the brutal murder of a woman who happens to be his former lover.

While the story is excellent, the language is much to offensive. If the "F" word offends you or if graphically detailed sexual situations (some very crude) offend you -- my recommendation is do not listen to this book. I hope this warning saves you from the disappointment I experienced. I really enjoyed the story line, but had to stop listening half way through part one -- sorry, anal intercourse is not my style!

In the midst of the Go-Go '90s, the culture of greed infused the MIT campus. A small blackjack club sprang up, dedicated to counting cards and beating the house at major casinos around the country. The Club grew slowly at first, but by the late 1990s, the right people had come up with the right system to take some of the world's most sophisticated casinos for all they were worth.

The story is interesting, but the reader is terrible and the language is pure 'street' talk. If you like the "F" word a lot -- you'll love this book. Otherwise, buy the book so you can skip over the trashy language

In a voice both haunting and startlingly immediate, Nitta Sayuri describes her life as a geisha. Taken from her home at the age of nine, she is sold into slavery to a renowned geisha house. Witness her transformation as you enter a world where appearances are paramount, virginity is auctioned to the highest bidder, women beguile powerful men, and love is scorned as illusion.

While I haven't listened to many audio books -- this one has captured me like no other. I don't really know how to express my fascination with this story -- my heart seems to ache for the life and treatment that Geisha received. It's difficult for me to understand this type of culture where young girls were treated as pure sexual pleasures -- with what seems like little or no emotional feeling for them. I never thought of myself as prudish, but it's hard for me to comprehend this manner of cold calculated behavior.

You'll love the book -- and likely not be affected as much as I was -- what a sap I can be.
