I love Sci Fi/Fantasy books. The very first author I listened to was Laurell K Hamilton. I love audiobooks they allow me the luxury of books without reading since I don't see well at all.

  • Dark Needs at Night's Edge: Immortals After Dark, Book 5

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 3 mins)
    • By Kresley Cole
    • Narrated By Robert Petkoff
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Néomi Laress, a famous ballerina from a past century, became a phantom the night she was murdered. Imbued with otherworldly powers but invisible to the living, she haunts her beloved home, scaring away trespassers - until she encounters a ruthless immortal even more terrifying than Néomi herself.

Tonya says: "Spooky, steamy ghost story"
    "The best audiobook EVER!!!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Dark Needs at Night's Edge to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version of this book but I believe the audio version is the best because the narrator did voices that I thought were perfect and the emotions that he used for the characters were AWESOME.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Conrad Roth. He is my favorite due to the fact we got to see his transformation from fallen Vampire to a feeling, caring, virgin lover. It was so exciting.

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have heard almost all of the books in this series and I think he is a great performer. he makes the characters come to life and he makes sure you know the differences between male and female which I think is really important.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, I wish I could have listened to this book in one sitting. However I just would have angered myself because it would have ended quicker

  • Cell: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 36 mins)
    • By Stephen King
    • Narrated By Campbell Scott

The cause of the devastation is a phenomenon that will come to be known as The Pulse, and the delivery method is a cell phone. Everyone's cell phone. Clay and the few desperate survivors who join him suddenly find themselves in the pitch-black night of civilization's darkest age, surrounded by chaos, carnage, and a human horde that has been reduced to its basest nature...and then begins to evolve.

    chris says: "Entertained"
"I can't believe it ended like that!!"
Would you try another book from Stephen King and/or Campbell Scott?

I would listen to another Stephen King book however I hope that he gets some help on how to end a book properly.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The book itself I think was good but he leaves you hanging in the end after 12:24:49 of listening I wanted a conclusion to the story.

Did Campbell Scott do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I think he only did a satifactory job. He could have done much more than he did. Maybe Phil Gigante should have narrated this story.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I was very disappointed with the ending. The overall story was good but the ending was substandard

  • Plague of the Dead: The Morningstar Strain, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By Z. A. Recht
    • Narrated By Oliver Wyman

The end begins with a viral outbreak unlike anything mankind has ever encountered before. The infected are subject to delirium, fever, a dramatic increase in violent behavior, and a one-hundred percent mortality rate. Death. But it doesn't end there. The victims return from death to walk the earth. When a massive military operation fails to contain the plague of the living dead it escalates into a global pandemic.

Big Art says: "Makes my top 10 Zombie Stories of all time!!"
    "This book is terrible!!!"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This book had no chance of being a 4 or 5 star experience for me ever! This book did not connect me with the main characters nor did I even care what happened to them. The author's writing in this book just didn't flow well at all, it seems as though a bunch of events where just taking place and not being tied together well.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I am not sure at this point what my next book will be however it wont be book 2 in this series!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Oliver Wyman?

As far as this book was concerned I don't think even Phil Gigante could have saved it for me so I would say I would say Oliver is the best choice.

What character would you cut from Plague of the Dead?

I would cut this whole book not just a character here and there

  • Hounded: The Iron Druid Chronicles, Book 1

    • By Kevin Hearne
    • Narrated By Luke Daniels
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

Chris says: "Finally, a modern day fantasy that really hits the"
If you could sum up Hounded in three words, what would they be?

This story was action packed and I liked the fact that the story was very easy to follow. The main character Aticus I connected with him right away along with his wolfhound Oberon.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the plot of the story and the fact that the author gave you enough about Aticus to keep the story going and you never get confused about what is going on.

What about Luke Daniels’s performance did you like?

He is a great reader. The only thing is in my mind Aticus has a Irish

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    not sure
