A nine-year-old boy is found murdered at the bottom of a well near a popular beach resort in southern Italy. In what looks like a hopeless case for Guido Guerrieri, a Senegalese peddler is accused of the crime. Faced with small-town racism, Guido attempts to exploit the esoteric workings of the Italian courts. The voice of Sean Barrett brings this gritty Italian detective series to life.

This is hands down one of the finest books I have EVER listened to on Audible. I am on book three of the series and the only down side is that I have no idea what I will do after I've completed book four (the last in the series). Hopefully, this author will continue to write and Audible will PLEASE KEEP the narrator! One of the best I've heard in a long time.

A long-buried family secret resurfaces when one of Aloysius Pendergast's most implacable enemies shows up on his doorstep as a murdered corpse. The mystery has all the hallmarks of the perfect murder, save for an enigmatic clue: a piece of turquoise lodged in the stomach of the deceased. The gem leads Pendergast to an abandoned mine on the shore of California's desolate Salton Sea, which in turn propels him on a journey of discovery deep into his family's sinister past.

Would you try another book from J.B. Turner and/or Peter Brooke?

    No.

Would you ever listen to anything by J.B. Turner again?

    No.

Would you be willing to try another one of Peter Brooke’s performances?

    No.

    Any additional comments?

Stupid story and terrible narrating. Every other sentence sounded sarcastic and his different voices were almost laughable.

In this taut, chilling audiobook, Lester Ballard - a violent, dispossessed man falsely accused of rape - haunts the hill country of East Tennessee when he is released from jail. While telling his story, Cormac McCarthy depicts the most sordid aspects of life with dignity, humor, and characteristic lyrical brilliance.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I have listened to this whole book (only because I like the narrator) and do not have a single clue as to what this story was about! Nothing! NO IDEA! Nothing made any sense! I kept waiting and waiting and waiting for something to click. Never happened. What a colossal waste of time. My first time with this author...based on this book I would never read another.

Would you try another book from Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child and/or David W. Collins?

These simply cannot be the same two writers who wrote the Pendergast series. This book is made even worse by the idiotic dialog and the extremely sarcastic way in which the narrator reads the book. Maybe he was simply tortured by having to read this worthless junk and decided to make it even worse!

A confrontation with the outlaws ends as Weldon puts a bullet through the rear window of Clyde’s stolen automobile. What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The only reason I have suffered through the first half of this book is because I love the narrator. Other than that, the story is very boring and the dialog is idiotic. No one speaks as these people do now or in the past. Once again, I spent money based on other people's reviews and again I wonder if we are all listening to the same book.
I will not finish this and will request a refund.

What disappointed you about Those Who Wish Me Dead?

This book contains the most idiotic dialog I think I have ever read in a book! Forget the reviews listed...this book is total garbage! Implausible plot, stupid and pathetic dialog...I simply can't continue to listen and I'm only in the first few chapters.

Would you ever listen to anything by Michael Koryta again?

    Most likely not.

The night after the fourth of July, Layton Carlson, Jr., of Red Wing, Minnesota, finally got lucky. And unlucky.

He’d picked the perfect spot to lose his virginity to his girlfriend, an abandoned farmyard in the middle of cornfields: nice, private, and quiet. The only problem was...something smelled bad - like, really bad. He mentioned it to a county deputy he knew, and when the cop took a look, he found a body stuffed down a cistern. And then another, and another. By the time Lucas Davenport was called in, the police were up to 15 bodies and counting.

If you could sum up Field of Prey in three words, what would they be?

I stopped listening half-way through another one of my favorite authors so I could start listening to "Field of Prey". I am not disappointed. I'm only part way in to the story and I am loving it already! I will pre-order any of John Sandford's books and hopefully Audible will keep Richard Ferrone as the narrator. There is no finer combination.

I should have listened to the one negative review here instead of all the other 4 and 5 star reviews. Were they all listening to the same book? I cannot even try to explain how soporifically this book is written. All I know is I'm half way through and thanks to Audible I will get my money back!

In Israel, a man clutching a backpack searches desperately for a boat. In Minnesota, Virgil Flowers gets a message from Lucas Davenport: You're about to get a visitor. It's an Israeli cop, and she's tailing a man who's smuggled out an extraordinary relic - a copper scroll revealing startling details about the man known as King Solomon. Wait a minute, laughs Virgil. Is this one of those Da Vinci Code deals? The secret scroll, the blockbuster revelation, the teams of murderous bad guys? Should I be boning up on my Bible verses? He looks at the cop. She's not laughing.

What would have made Storm Front better?

I am a huge fan of Sandford and the character but this story is just majorly way too hard to follow. You would need to make a spread sheet of the characters just to even try to keep up with what is going on but even that would not help I'm afraid.
