When a troubled model falls to her death from a snow-covered Mayfair balcony, it is assumed that she has committed suicide. However, her brother has his doubts, and calls in private investigator Cormoran Strike to look into the case.Strike is a war veteran - wounded both physically and psychologically - and his life is in disarray. The case gives him a financial lifeline, but it comes at a personal cost: the more he delves into the young model's complex world, the darker things get - and the closer he gets to terrible danger...

What did you love best about The Cuckoo's Calling?

I loved all the mystery and entanglements surrounding the alleged suicide of the supermodel and the interaction between Cormoran Strike and his temp. secretary Robin.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Each twist in the story kept me guessing about what really happened and who was involved. The story kept me intrigued all the way through.

    Any additional comments?

I am glad that it was leaked that J.K Rowling wrote this under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith and that the profits have gone to charity. I may not have purchased this book otherwise and been able to enjoy an excellent story from a master storyteller. Robert Glenister's performance as narrator was brilliant as well.

The Adderhead has ordered his henchmen to plunder the villages. The peasants' only defense is a band of outlaws led by the Bluejay - Mo's fictitious double, whose identity he has reluctantly adopted. But the Book of Immortality is unraveling, and the Adderhead again fears the White Women of Death. To bring the renegade Bluejay back to repair the book, the Adderhead kidnaps all the children in the kingdom, dooming them to slavery in his silver mines unless Mo surrenders.

A great conclusion to one the best children's trilogies I have ever listened to, and read. In Inkdeath Orpheus has made it into the story and is reeking havoc in the lives of the people and animals of Inkworld. Mo becomes becomes more like the Bluejay than ever before, and Dustfinger is returned to the world of the living at huge personal cost to Mo. Can Meggie, Mo and Dustfinger save Inkworld from the Adderhead before it is too late? Have a listen to this brilliant conclusion to the Inkheart trilogy, read by Allan Corduner to find out.

Although a year has passed, not a day goes by without Meggie thinking of Inkheart, the book whose characters became real. But for Dustfinger, the fire-eater brought into being from words, the need to return to the tale has become desperate. When he finds a crooked storyteller with the ability to read him back, Dustfinger leaves behind his young apprentice Farid and plunges into the medieval world of his past.

    Story

Brendan Fraser's reading of Inkspell by Cornelia Funke is absolutely brilliant. This time instead of the characters coming out of the book of Inkheart, we are taken into the world of Inkworld, where the story takes place. We are introduced to the Megalomaniac Orpheus who is able to read people in and out of books but is unable to read himself into Inkworld which is his greatest desire. Reggie, Mo, Farid and Dustfinger meet new allies, new enemies as well as old, namely Basta and Capricorns mother Mortola. A brilliant sequel which is better than Inkheart and Fraser's performance as narrator brings the story to life.

Imagine it were possible to bring the characters from a book to life. Not like when you listen to an audiobook with such enchantment that the characters seem to jump off the pages and into your bedroom...but for real. Imagine they could actually climb out of the pages and into our world. Then imagine if those characters brought their world into ours.

The characters come alive when reading Inkheart out loud. Forefinger is a fire eating performer who tricks with fire are brilliant. Maggie and Mo read the characters to life, and Dustfingers Marten Gwin. Lynn Redgrave delivered a brilliant performance of Inkheart. The book is absolutely brilliant. Cornelia Funke is one of the better children's authors around. The Chronicles of Narnia by C S Lewis was absolutely pathetic compared to the Inkheart trilogy.

To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare, woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, she has endured a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife to reach the ultimate turning point.

Breaking Dawn is the brilliant conclusion to a great saga. Ilyana Kadushin delivers a brilliant performance of Bella's point of view and Matt Walters gives an equally impressive performance of Jacob's point of view. Bella becomes a vampire after been injected with venom to the heart, by Edward, after she almost dies giving birth to Renesmee, their daughter who is half vampire and half human. The Cullens then join forces with the werewolf packs led by Jacob and Sam and with other vampire covens to confront the Volturi who are set on killing Renesmee and destroying the Cullens. A marvelous listen and read and deserves its reputation as probably the best vampire story written thus far.

This time the Cullens and werewolves join forces to defeat an army of newborns that have been created by Victoria, to wipe out the Cullen coven and to kill Bella. The newborns have been reeking havoc in Seattle in preparation for the fight against the Cullens. A great listen and read. Ilyana Kadushin gives another excellent performance.

The second book in the Twilight Saga, New Moon is a brilliantly touching story in pure Romeo and Juliet style. Jacob changes into a werewolf tasked with killing vampires, in their territory that pose a risk to humans. Edward decides to sacrifice himself to the Volturi when he believes Bella is dead and Bella becomes determined to become one of the Cullens' vampire coven. Ilyana Kadushin once again delivers a brilliant performance of this audio book.

They told David it was impossible - that even the Reckoners had never killed a High Epic. Yet, Steelheart - invincible, immortal, unconquerable - is dead. And he died by David's hand. Eliminating Steelheart was supposed to make life more simple. Instead, it only made David realise he has questions. Big ones. And there's no one in Newcago who can give him the answers he needs. Babylon Restored, the old borough of Manhattan, has possibilities, though.

Firefight by Brandon Sanderson is simply brilliant. The Reckoners travel to Babylon Restored (New York City) to track down Firefight (Megan) who has seemingly joined forces with a powerful epic named Regalia. David believes that Firefight is good, but the other Reckoners want her dead. A brilliant listen, Firefight is better than Steelheart in every way.

Lyra's Oxford opens two years after the conclusion of Philip Pullman's The Amber Spyglass in the comfort and familiarity of Jordan College, where Lyra and her daemon, Pantalaimon, sit on the sun-drenched roof looking out over all of Oxford. But their peace is shattered when a strange bird - a witch's daemon, on it's own - tumbles out of the sky, in search of a healing elixer to cure his witch of a strange new disease. Lyra and Pan decided to help - witches are friends, of course - but the closer their winding walk leads them towards the infamous Oxford alchemist.
