I found this book very well written. It gave me greater insight into NGO's in third world countries and also dispelled the myth that NGO workers are clueless about the dangers of working in third world countries (but confirmed the notion I have that they do not provide adequate security for their employees). I also liked how it showed the role of the FBI - I never considered their role in these situations. I also liked how we get to understand the angst of Buchanen's husband and family and their role in her rescue.I really enjoyed the book.
I enjoyed this book so much. The author laid out the story so well and gave insights I had never considered when he showed the war from the German perspective.
At no point during the story did I think it was too slow or areas skipped over, and I especially liked the author's introduction where he admitted his own bias prior to fully investigating this story.
Sometimes when you least expect it you are reminded that there is humanity in a world full of hate. However, this happened a long time ago and I doubt we would see an act of such great humanity happening today.
This should be on your top 5 books to read this year. It has it all, history, humor, sadness, romance and intrigue.
I loved this book. I liked how both authors tell the story, it gives you greater insight into each of them. The book moves very fast and you learn a lot about how operatives work. I found it informative, and at times funny and sad.... this should be on your summer reading list.
I found the book both entertaining and informative. Provides insights one never consdiers.
I find his voice easy to listen to.
