Most people are both repelled and intrigued by the images of cold-blooded, conscienceless murderers that increasingly populate our movies, television programs, and newspaper headlines. With their flagrant criminal violation of society's rules, serial killers like Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy are among the most dramatic examples of the psychopath. Individuals with this personality disorder are fully aware of the consequences of their actions and know the difference between right and wrong....

What did you love best about Without Conscience?

The insight into the phychos' phyche. They are normal people, they just do not have the conscious that the rest of us do. It makes them freer and dangerous. The author points out at how not so rare such people are, and give tips on how to spot them.

A handful of people. From different backgrounds, living in different towns and cities across America, they had nothing in common - except fear. Deep in the heart of a sprawling desert, a dark memory called out to them, drawing them to the Tranquility Motel - where the terrifying truth was waiting.

    What disappointed you about Strangers?

I've been listening to Ayn Rand's books. They are clear, intellectually brilliant, novel and eventually inspiring. Dean Koontz represents everything what Ayn Rand despises. He is a mystic. He promotes fear, the impotence or the human mild, the inability of man to control or direct his live, the superiority of the supernatural, relying on luck, the magical appearances of extraordinary abilities in ordinary people, unexplainable intuition, faith in the unknowable, self-sacrifice, death.

Has Strangers turned you off from other books in this genre?

Comparing Koontz to Stephen King would be a compliment to Koontz. But both are better digested in 1.5-2 hour long sci-fi movies rather than by reading through thousand page books or 30-hour audio tapes. It cuts the crap and makes the visual part more appealing.

Would you be willing to try another one of Dick Hill’s performances?

Definitely not Dick Hill as a narrator. His dry timbre and bursting intonations are tiresome and hard to hear clearly in a car.

There is greatness in all of us. The power to reach our full potential, regardless of our position or profession, is waiting to be unlocked. It just takes a clear path."The biggest obstacle - and opportunity, in performance isn’t knowing what to do; it’s about doing what we know.” says best-selling author and performance expert Alan Fine. “And what keeps us from doing what we know is interference. Identifying and reducing interference is necessary in order to capitalize on the skills, talents, and knowledge that already exist in each of us.”

Luckily I didn't spend hours. Even when listening at 2x the speed it was a dull listen. All the monologue and examples are from an old man talking about golf, tennis, and some child upbringing. If you can relate to that then perhaps you won't totally blank out as I did. Else, skip it.

"Ideas are the greatest and most crucially practical power on earth," wrote Ayn Rand. In the title essay of this collection, Leonard Peikoff applies this principle to the world of business. He shows that certain philosophic ideas, such as reason, egoism, and individualism, are needed to defend and protect the freedom of businessmen, while the opposite ideas, such as mysticism, altruism, and collectivism (which dominate our universities), destroy that freedom.

Ayn Rand here sets forth the moral principles of Objectivism, the philosophy that holds human life - the life proper to a rational being - as the standard of moral values and regards altruism as incompatible with human nature, with the creative requirement of survival, and with a free society.

Most of us have no idea what's really going on inside our heads. Yet brain scientists have uncovered details every business leader, parent, and teacher should know - such as the brain's need for physical activity to work at its best. How do we learn? What exactly do sleep and stress do to our brains? Why is multi-tasking a myth? Why is it so easy to forget - and so important to repeat new information? Is it true that men and women have different brains?

If you could sum up Brain Rules in three words, what would they be?

The author assumes that his listeners have a 10-minute attention span. He buries one idea in every 10 minutes of jokes, trivia, and clinical psychiatry stories.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Go for a walk, jog, or cardio, and your brain will work better.

The Thank You Economy is about something big, something greater than any single revolutionary platform. It isn't some abstract concept or wacky business strategy—it's real, and every one of us is doing business in it every day, whether we choose to recognize it or not. It's the way we communicate, the way we buy and sell, the way businesses and consumers interact online and offline.

This is all I want to say. Can't think of 15 words. The min review word count requirement is ridiculous. It's too difficult to rate books this way.
