Epic story, elegant writing, I cried. I had a hard time getting into the narration at first--his style is kind of flat, but by the end of the book I thought of it as being neutral.
Same old Harry, same story. Good but not great. Won't keep me from reading another though. As always the narration was very good.
This is a beautiful, lyrical story read with great skill. It is one of my favorite audio books of all time.
This is my second Maisie book. . .I am finding the stories to be quite interesting until things fall just too neatly into place, as in the first one I read.
The narrator detracts from the story. Sometimes she is overly melodramatic, and she also has a lisp that breaks through every few minutes, very annoying.
This book is told in the voices of young females. The narrator sounds like Alvin the Chipmunk. I had to quit listening, and when the voice leaves my head, I will try to read it. Right now it seems a little thin.
And I am so glad I did. What a wonderful book this is. Heartbreaking, funny, understated and yet a little fantastic.
Great story, great characters, important themes. Very well presented.
Ray Porter does a great job portraying the various characters, including women.
Excellent performance, fun storylines.
I haven't listened to any books by Gabaldon before, but the reviews intrigued me.
I thought Porter's performance was right on. Her accents and characterizations (including male voices) were excellent.
Not really, it is fun as a series of stories.
I was surprised to enjoy a combination of a genre (Romance) and theme (time-traveling) that I usually avoid.
I would NOT try another Gillian Flynn book. The performances are just fine!
Gone Girl is another in a long line of completely improbable books about "brilliant sociopaths."
I actually hung in with the story for the first half of the book, thinking it might go in a direction I could appreciate or believe.
