At the end of World War II, the Soviet Union to its surprise and delight found itself in control of a huge swath of territory in Eastern Europe. Stalin and his secret police set out to convert a dozen radically different countries to Communism, a completely new political and moral system. In Iron Curtain, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Anne Applebaum describes how the Communist regimes of Eastern Europe were created and what daily life was like once they were complete.

What did you like best about Iron Curtain? What did you like least?

Originating from central Europe, the history of the central Europe region interests me quite a bit. Unfortunately, at the start of the book the author explains that she concentrated on 3 countries from the region - Germany, Poland and Hungary. None of which is my country of origin.
And despite the fact that it shed some light on what had the people go through in those years, it left a feeling of something missing to a full picture.

Did Iron Curtain inspire you to do anything?

Since the book was more less describing mostly events from 2 central european countries, it inspired me to go and look for more information the country where i was born.

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.

What did you love best about Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter?

The well thought through mixture of real facts and fantasy

Have you listened to any of Scott Holst’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Haven't listened to any of his previous performances, but i liked this one a lot, really brought the story to life.

Who was the most memorable character of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and why?

Henry Sturges, the vampire, a dark character, but yet many times showing interesting views on life and world around.

    Any additional comments?

To start with, i really liked the premise of a vampire story based around an actual historic person. The story didn't fail to entertain throughout, in many ways far super-seeding the expectations.
Ans the performance of narrator just helped further to suck you in this story and never wanting to stop listening.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Without a doubt, one of the most captivating books i have listened to recently. Mark's obvious knowledge of the filed and the detailed description of certain aspects made it so much more enjoyable.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Of course, the timing of the events was just perfect and always made you to go further and further.

Which character – as performed by Johnny Heller – was your favorite?

    Jeff Aiken
