Real estate expert Olivia Bellamy reluctantly trades a trendy Manhattan summer for her family's old resort camp in the Catskills, where her primary task will be renovating the bungalow colony for her grandparents, who want one last summer together filled with fun, friends and family. A posh resort in its heyday, the camp is now in disarray and Olivia is forced to hire contractor Connor Davis - a still-smoldering flame from her own summers at camp.

What would have made Summer at Willow Lake better?

Too many words! Too much jumping all over the place- it's the 30s, no the 90s, oh wait now it is the 70s, and occasionally let's throw in present day!

Has Summer at Willow Lake turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not the genre, but definitely the author

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Confusion and aggrevation.

    Story

This was a very disappointing story for me. Gray was so solicitous that I found myself at times just rolling my eyes. There was almost a story about the Ace Trucking guys, but it honestly went nowhere. One thing that really annoyed me though was the whole water issue. At the start of the story the mere thought of water turned her stomach and she couldn't bathe in more than 2" of water.....not so very long later she was taking showers? As with the whole book, the story was almost there...but never quite.
PTSD is such an important story to tell and this author has done a much better job in earlier books.
Quick question though..do all seals and PTSD patients go to Jackson Hole WY?

Cowboy Jace Mills has suffered fewer injuries from bucking bulls than he has from his ex-girlfriend. Following his best friend Tucker's advice, Jace is convinced it's time to move on. But with his ex's tight rein on him, easier said than done. Tara Jenkins learned a lot in her sports medicine courses, but not how to fix her broken heart. So when her brother Tucker suggests using her skills on the rodeo, it gives her the perfect opportunity to ride off into the sunset - or at least run away.

Would you ever listen to anything by Cat Johnson again?

Of course I think she is a really good author

What would have made this romance irresistible?

I felt the whole story was "off". I kept listening, hoping it would get better. The first two in the series had really good twists and turns, some very unexpected...this story I felt was unbelievable and uninspired. The sex scenes were also too raunchy...with the little baby voice of Tara..it was kind of sickening to listen to her initiating sex acts such as she did.

Oh yeah. A single look at the leggy blonde in the stands and Tucker Jenkins is ready to buck all night long. It's time to forget all about his cheating ex and his usual hands off policy. Becca Hart is an East Coast professor. Not a buckle bunny. But no degree can prepare her for the moves of the sexy bull rider she hooks up with at her first rodeo… or the shock of finding him at her first Oklahoma State University staff meeting. Tuck knows it's all about holding on, no matter how wild the ride.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would recommend. At first I thought this was just another boy meets girl, boy and girl have lots of baggage stories...but it was more. If you start this book, make sure you read it all the way through. The author did a great job with the storyline. Once I got to chapter 21...there was no stopping until it was done.

What did you like best about this story?

the twists and turns of the storyline.

Have you listened to any of Alice Chapman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was a first, but she did fine.

What would have made The Defender better?

The storyline was waaaay out there and Katie was annoying!

Has The Defender turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. The first four books were really good, in my opinion this was just a huge miss.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Defender?

All of them with Katie and her mother! Menopause...ridiculous!

    Any additional comments?

Katie was such a bad ass when she was young...really? What happened when she grew up?
