I thought this was a great book. Plot was a little different and brought up things about WWI that I had never heard about. I love how the author brought out his main character. Very believable to me.

I had to start this one over to understand what was going on. My fault I am sure. Lots of excitement and good action. Wish the main character wouldn't whine so much. I will buy the second one to see it she gets better. It is another take on wereanimals. Still a pretty good listen though.

Gail Carriger created a fascinating steampunk vision of Victorian England in her “intoxicatingly witty” (Publishers Weekly, starred review) debut novel Soulless—the first in the best-selling Parasol Protectorate series. Changeless is the second in the series and finds Alexia Tarabotti, now the Lady Woolsey, quite put out after her werewolf husband goes missing. So, armed with her trusty parasol, Alexia boards a dirigible and heads for Scotland to find him.

I absolutely loved the first book. This one could have been fleshed out a little more IMHO, but the surprise ending was worth it. I have purchased the 3rd one to see what happens.

Atlanta would be a nice place to live, if it weren't for the magic. When the magic is up, rogue mages cast their spells and monsters appear, while guns refuse to fire and cars fail to start. But then technology returns, and the magic recedes as unpredictably as it arose. Kate Daniels works for the Order of Knights of Merciful Aid, officially as a liaison with the mercenary guild. Unofficially, she cleans up the paranormal problems no one else wants to handle - especially if they involve Atlanta's shapeshifting community.

Leslie says: "GREAT BOOK, Perfect Narrator!"
    "love it...love it"
    Overall

Great listen....can't wait for the next one. Love the idea of magic breaking down things.

It is January 1944 - and as Allied troops prepare for D day, Nazi scientists develop a toxic nerve gas that will repel and wipe out any invasion force. To salvage the planned assault, two vastly different but equally determined men are sent to infiltrate the secret concentration camp where the poison gas is being perfected on human subjects. Their only objective: destroy all traces of the gas and the men who created it - no matter how many lives may be lost...including their own.

Laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching, Beth Hoffman's sparkling debut is, as Kristin Hannah says, "packed full of Southern charm, strong women, wacky humor, and good old-fashioned heart." It is a novel that explores the indomitable strengths of female friendship and gives us the story of a young girl who loses one mother and finds many others.

  • Soulless: An Alexia Tarabotti Novel

Victorian romance mixes seamlessly with elegant prose and biting wit—and werewolves—in Gail Carriger’s delightful debut novel. Soulless introduces Alexia Tarabotti, a parasol-wielding Londoner getting dangerously close to spinster status. But there are more important things than finding a husband. For Alexia was born without a soul, giving her the ability to render any vampire or werewolf completely powerless.

Pamela I Greene says: "Amelia Peabody has competition"
    "Wish there were more volumes"
    Overall

I found this delightful and funny. The narrator was great. Too bad there are no more to follow-up.
