She raced across the pasture, vaulted a fence, and landed, stunned and breathless, on top of the most handsome man she had ever seen. The bemused stranger stayed to capture the fancy of the brood of orphaned children in her charge, then stole Lauren Hill's heart with a searing kiss as he left. Lauren couldn't tell him she was a widowed countess fallen on hard times. She tried to forget him - until she saw him again at a London ball. The man who haunted her dreams was a duke, out of her class...and he was pledged to another woman.

I would have given 4 stars for the story but it got so tedious towards the end. The two characters became tiresome by their flip flopping feelings. Too many flip flops for me. As always Anne Flosnik's narrating was excellent.

I loved everything about this book. I laughed, I cried. I am a sentimental fool when it comes to matters of the heart. I felt for both characters through the ups and owns, the battles of the times in Scotland. It was a difficult time to live and love. Great book.

But she has her sights on one man only: the much-hunted Mr Beaumaris. Our feisty heroine puts up a fight and deals the worldly-wise Beaumaris a deft hand in the game of love; at first grudgingly charmed, he soon becomes smitten.

For one thing I did not like the style in which the book was written. One reviewer called it "Delightful". I did not consider it delightful. It was somewhat tedious. I thought the author was trying to imitate Jane Austen in this novel. It didn't work for me.

I am always amazed by authors who do not choose a good narrator for their book. There is nothing worse than to read a review that makes the book sound very interesting only to have it ruined by a terrible narrator. Brad Wills is a very good narrator and he does not disappoint in Rowan's Lady. He has a wonderful narrating voice. Combined with a good book you can't go wrong. I enjoyed Rowan's Lady.

While the story and performance were very good I have two things to criticize. The first is the fact that too much narration can be overkill and many authors are guilty of writing too many words when a few words would have worked. The second is at the beginning of each chapter the narrator quotes poetry in a soothing type voice. Drove me crazy.

Joan Bennet has endured four Seasons without a single suitor or serious flirtation, let alone a marriage proposal. She's had just about enough of being a respectable wallflower and is giving serious thought to embarking on a life of sin, or at least lascivious adventure like the ones described in a popular scandalous book. When she meets her brother's favorite drinking mate, Viscount Burke, it seems her hopes of adventure might be answered . . .

It is amazing how, in some books, the two main characters are so quickly drawn to each other and how easily they are seduced. A confirmed rogue and a spinster (young by today standards) and the chase is on. A little humor in the dialogue with the two main characters in their banter. Is it love, or lust?

With this brilliant foray into historical fiction, Christy Award finalist Sandra Byrd delivers a fresh look at Anne Boleyn through the eyes of her lifelong friend Meg Wyatt. As Anne finds favor with Henry VIII, Meg basks in the glow of Anne’s glory. But when Anne falls out of favor, the childhood friends are plunged into a maelstrom of slander and intrigue that tests the limits of their loyalties and puts their lives - and the lives of their loved ones - in grave danger.

Lady Margaret "Meg" Wyatt was my 14th great grandmother so I was thrilled when I came across this novel of Anne Boleyn's friendship with Meg Wyatt. I thought it was very well done. In this book Meg Wyatt is very devoted and loyal to Anne Boleyn right up to Anne's violent end. Historically interesting with facts regarding Anne's execution. They were violent times in history.

It was a good book but it had it's moments. Sometimes authors go into to much detail when telling their story. Sometimes too much dialogue that just seems to fill in to make the book longer. They story was very good but I would have liked the author to advance from one situation to another with minimal dialogue or explanations. Her books always has a hero that sounds like a god in build and stature. Her description of West did not disappoint. Sigh. Regardless of my criticisms it was a good book, just not 5 stars.

Some series books don't leave you hanging from book to book. The ending of this book had a prologue to book 2. I felt a little bit disappointed with the prologue. And the last chapter of this book I felt could have been condensed. It just seemed to drag on. It jus wasn't one of my favorites.
