I didn't listen to this book for months after I had finished all the Bosch and Lincoln Lawyer series. I finally was out of books on my must read list (almost never happens) and was short on credits and had bought this and the poet a while back.
They were both just as good as any of his other books. Don't wait or not read these because they are not part of the main story lines. They are both very good and give some great back story to some of the characters in the main series. Should read them if possible in the order they fall in the other series. If you read this one and have not read a few of the Bosch books, this will have a few spoilers.
Yes, they are usually a great team.
He says he wanted it like his mash series books, and even though I'm done with all his other books, I will not be reading the MASH series.
I have read or listened to every book of every series and this is the only one I tell people to skip...
I was hoping for typical Baldacci book. I love the old books that are coming to Audible. My bad for not checking it, but I have yet to find anything that Baldacci writes that isn't phenomenal. Well, that was before this story. Just not my thing. I loved when Follet departed for Pillars of the Earth, but this just isn't my thing!
if he goes back to his normal stuff, the stuff that made him.
Love Scott Brick, I think I could listen to him read a phone book
Many of his book have significant logic gaps, I didn't catch one in this book. A previous book had this estate that two groups were taking helicopters too. The second group is arriving and landing in the only place suitable to land, yet there not sure if the other group is there yet. Hello, if there was only one place to land, the other one should have been sitting there as a clue. Later in the book both helicopters are there. So unless they have cloaking, that was bit of an opps.
If you have read or listened to "CROSS" you will find it to be very similary, in fact the SAME BOOK. Was not happy. THought I had a new book.
The way DeMille has Corey tell the story! I laughed all the way to vegas listening to this book. People asked what comedian was it?
As with all DeMille books, there are surprises throughout. He has to be one of the best ever and Scott Brick is the best person to read his works!
No way to say other than the obvious, Corey, but they are all wound together and the brining back of a character from other books was really fun.
I tried, but I have to work, sleep and eat. I wish it had lasted longer.
Great stand alone book, but sooooo much better if you have read/listened all the previous Corey books and UpCountry and General's Daughter too!
If you have liked any of the past books by David Baldacci this one is the best yet. I don't usually write reviews and usually listen while I am in the car. I found myself bringing my mp3 player inside to continue listening.
Keeps you on the edge with lots of surprises and suspense.
Just wish we didn't have to wait so long for these! Kept me up at night listening...stayed up and had to reset sleep timer a few times!
I was worried when I listened to Echo Burning that I had reached the end of the good Child books. The last two, prove that I can keep working my way through the series w/o worry. Two amazing books in a row.
I though his first two books were amazing...this one was actually hard to get though. I would let it sit so long that I would forget what was happening and really not care and just listen to get it over...I wish I didn't need to finish all my books!
