    • By Martha Beck
    • Narrated By Kathe Mazur
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Martha Beck, the beloved columnist and lifestyle counselor from O, The Oprah Magazine, returns with a new prescription for personal fulfillment. Stacey Crummie says: "Your own therapy session in a book"
    "Delightful book, perfect narrator"
Would you listen to The Joy Diet again? Why?

Yes. I am listening a second time now.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Joy Diet?

My son and I both enjoyed the part about giving yourself treats -- and the story of the dog Cookie, who smiles in anticipation of getting a cookie.

Which character – as performed by Kathe Mazur – was your favorite?

n/a. Kathe Mazur has great comic timing and inflection, and she has a friendly voice that's easy to listen to. She's a perfect narrator for a Martha Beck book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. It helps to pause and think about each chapter and do the exercises.

    • By Andrew Harvey, Marianne Williamson

"Love is both the supreme mystery and greatest power in the universe," reflect Andrew Harvey and Marianne Williamson. And it is our purpose to discover it, embrace it, embody it, and to put it into sacred action. When we shed the layers that separate us from our divine nature, we meet love. But how do we begin that process? With Love's Manifesto, Williamson and Harvey join forces to explore the nature of universal love, to help us discover it within ourselves and encourage it in others.

Patricia says: "Much Needed Guidelines for Skillful Living"
"Much Needed Guidelines for Skillful Living"
Where does Love's Manifesto rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the most helpful and important books I've encountered.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Love's Manifesto?

The 4 principles for living : 1. Abad (sp?). Extend respect and blessings to every being at every encounter. 2. Right livelihood. Serve the planet in your work; never work at a job or career that subjugates, oppresses, or destroys the planet or its creatures. 3. Shine. Express your creativity. 4. Simplicity and gratitude. Cultivate a sane relationship with money. Live simply, feel gratitude for what you have (and what money can't buy) and give as generously as you can to help those who are doing important work to save the planet.

What does Andrew Harvey and Marianne Williamson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The emotion and honesty in their voices. I love Andrew Harvey. I feel so blessed to have discovered him through

What did you learn from Love's Manifesto that you would use in your daily life?

The number one practice I will implement is to send love and blessings silently to every sentient being I encounter

  • The Power of Vulnerability: Teachings of Authenticity, Connection, and Courage

    • ORIGINAL (6 hrs and 31 mins)
    • By Brené Brown
    • Narrated By Brené Brown

On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

    Elaina says: "Wonderful!"
    "Life-Changing, Powerful Advice"
If you could sum up The Power of Vulnerability in three words, what would they be?

    Energizing. Enlightening. Funny.

What about Brené Brown’s performance did you like?

She sounds like my best friend, sharing with me over lunch. She sounds authentic, not slick and self-promoting.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

When I heard the results of the post-event study of the UT tower shooter -- that he'd had a psychic break because he hadn't been allowed to play as a child -- I was almost moved to tears by that tragic finding. I shudder to think what the current culture of ever more school and parent-scheduled events is doing to the next generation!

    Any additional comments?

I suspect more women than men will purchase this book because of the topic. But men need to hear this stuff, too! These are uncomfortable topics for most (all?) of us, but that's part of why listening to this book is so powerful and life-changing. Why is it that the most important things in our culture are the ones we value the least?

  • Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By Jane Austen, Steve Hockensmith
    • Narrated By Katherine Kellgren
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In this terrifying and hilarious prequel, we witness the genesis of the zombie plague in early 19th-century England. We watch Elizabeth Bennet evolve from a nave young teenager into a savage slayer of the undead. We laugh as she begins her first clumsy training with nunchucks and katana swords and cry when her first blush with romance goes tragically awry.

Dawn says: "Fantastic Narrator for a Fun Story!"

With romance, redemption, witty repartee, and zombies, what's not to like? This prequel to PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES is superbly written and, at times, laugh-out-loud funny. The narrator, Katherine Kellgren, is absolutely brilliant. Loved it!
